Correct. No bargaining. It's a reverse auction where the price drops until it sells.

What was your spec, I am curious? I had a dream spec but luckily I'm finding I like what I find. My only hard requirements are that it not be black,I don't want another black car
Grabber Lime, black stripes, painted black roof and tech pack. Car had about 6k miles on it if I remember correctly. Something about the bright colors on these cars just really makes them jump out even more than they already do.

I agree. I ordered this magnetic metallic once before. It wasn't high on my list of specs. Then, it came. There's something unique about the grey with black and red stripes that makes it different than any other mustang IMO

So now I'm glazing on this spec, as the kids would say

Pic showing it without the front splitter. Add that to the list of red flags I'm ignoring as I blindly charge forth

The grey and black combo is a good one also. Has that sinister look to it.

Yeah seems there’s a few red flags on this one now. But again, if it’s one you like and aren’t worried about resale, it may be worth it. At the end of the day it’s still an R. There’s not many “deals” on an R with a clean title, so I guess it comes down to weighing the discounted price on a buyback car (that has a few other red flags) or paying a higher price for something cleaner. You’re still probably coming out ahead even with the added cost of the splitter, but that savings could erode quickly if the trans goes. Not that that stuff can’t happen on a clean car either, but that’s the kind of cost analysis I would do.

Sorry to belabor the point but are we agreeing the 🍋 is priced into this $47,590 number?

Kinda feels like it. Just a quick glance through Cars. Com and Car Gurus, there’s a few 2016-2017 non-R’s with similar mileage at around the same price, and one of them has an accident (minor) on the Carfax. So it looks like they’ve basically taken the R premium out of the price to account for the lemon on title. Whether that’s enough I don’t know, but it does appear they’ve applied at least some discount to account for it.

Got it. So, it seems you would greenlight this deal if it had the Gen 2? It becomes more sought after than the average lemon because of the circumstances?

A car marked returned under the states Lemon Law, will most likely not have a clean title. It can be titled as "Lemon on title". Lemon return cars can be 20%.or more Less in value than a None Lemon titled cars.

Another đź’ I had is that in 2016 the R was a $13,000 sticker option that didn't get calculated into the base MSRP until the later models. I think. So, perhaps that also accounts for the price difference. I do feel like it would be a mistake not to pick this car up. I'll miss the GT500 but I can pick it up another day in the future. I don't think it will be as rare, just a downward march like the other recent GT500 models.

A big reason I'm choosing Shelby is because of how badly my last car, an Italian, depreciated. I'm more motivated to drive a car like this a knowing it keeps a value at any mileage and I'm also more motivated to do the expensive repairs on a car that will keep its collectability in any state. Feel free to point out any flaws in my logic

It's not a clean title?! How can I tell? I'm guessing my insurer will know...

It does not appear that Ford is bringing the Shelby name back for S650, so if that holds true I think that will put a higher floor on S550 Shelby values. GT500 pricing has come down a bit but the CFTP’s and even low mileage non-CFTP are holding value pretty well.

I would say the one flaw in your logic is the lemon on title. Even being a Shelby, that will hurt its value as a collectible vs a clean title car (and the miles). It will still have a floor as far as value but it will be a lower floor. That buyback will follow the car, unfortunately.

Great points. There will always be Shelby idiots to step up and buy this, though. God bless us Shelby idiots

Branded titles I wouldn't think would matter to much for insurance company's, on the other hand if you plan to buy on a loan, banks probably will. But if you got the money it would be a nice car. Good luck

The Shelby name definitely has some value to a lot of folks. Good luck with whatever you decide

I still can't get my head around why you trade away the 500 for the 350r?

I know you have a reason. I'm just not sure I totally grasp it yet.

Thank you for your italic dissent. I cannot hope to justify this choice. The GT500 is crisp, clean, and immaculate. They fixed the bumper sag. The GT350R comes with factory cigarette smell and the tramsteering is aggressively trying to kill the passengers and make me look like a bad driver. The bumpers could fall off at any moment...

But it's the sound. The GT500 is the sound of your badass highschool bully and the GT350R is the sound of freedom 🤬🦅💨🇺🇲🎆🎇♥🤍💙

Also I see you are still active in this thread and on the fence about the vehicle but is it even still available? On Carvana it’s marked as purchase in progress. Is that you? Or is this at white bear Lincoln? I’m very confused lol. Another thing to look at is to make sure it has the carbon wheels. If it doesn’t the price doesn’t make sense and I wouldn’t buy it.
