looking at the buy back date I would think its a Gen 2. But I would verify prior to purchase

Got it. So, it seems you would greenlight this deal if it had the Gen 2? It becomes more sought after than the average lemon because of the circumstances?

Call your local dealer, service department, give them the vin and have them tell you what’s on the oasis. It’ll show if Ford installed a new motor and when. If that was the case it wouldn’t bother me a bit. I would account for the negative of the buyback for future resale if that may happen. As well as for the current price.

Awesome. It's good to learn the sentiment of a prospective buyer! I also don't mind if the engine was swapped. In fact, I prefer it.

I think the lemon is priced in, but I was hoping to get feedback from you guys where that price might be before determining if I really feel this is a deal worth pursuing. Especially when I already have two mustangs still wearing temp tags. I just can't pass up a deal and I think I would trade the 500 for a dealofthelifetime 350R

For most buyers it would be a positive.

But, I assume, a lemon buyback pre 2019 is not more sought after than a 2019 with no issues or low mileage. I'll do some more research on engine replaced models in this site

Is this the one on carava? Is it at your local caravan dealership? A buyback is a buyback. Only Shelby idiots think having a buyback and a second gen motor actually adds value. Regardless it’s a lemon at the end of the day

Yep. Thanks for your dissent. Fair point. It's not a deal at that price?

I don't think it adds value, but I do actually prefer a factory engine replaced 2016 than a non engine replaced one that's a "ticking time bombs." The engine replacement is a severe step that gives me some confidence, while at the same time causing a hit to the value that is explainable and advantageous to somebody (me) who wants to absolutely dog on their gt350r and doesn't want to do it on the 4,000 mile one

This car is priced at $47,590 with the 61,000 miles and lemon on the Carfax. It was also a corporate lease with a rebuilt transmission. All of the red flags are there. Counterpoint: have you driven the R? It's intoxicating. It feels like you could get out and pick up the front of the car to move it like it was a shopping cart. But, you don't have to, because you can make the front bunny hop using the steering wheel. The front wheels are so light. Fantastic car.

Counter counter point: my current R is a 2019 with the retuned magneride. The 2016 could be less refined

Hmmm. Might be a bit high for a car with a buyback on the title and that amount of mileage, but admittedly I don’t really follow pricing on lemon/buyback Shelby’s. BUT, the engine was replaced so assuming that was the lone reason for the buyback, you should be good to go. Rebuilt trans is another red flag but assuming it was done properly, there shouldn’t be an issue other than the usual wear & tear stuff.

If it’s a car you plan to keep long term and you don’t care about resale, if you feel it’s worth it to you I’d say go for it. I don’t think you can haggle with Carvana (assuming that’s where it’s listed, per a previous post) but if you can, I’d try taking 10% off their ask and see if they bite.

The R is definitely an intoxicating car. Should’ve pulled the trigger on one I test drove a little over a year ago. It was exactly how I’d spec one, I just couldn’t get myself to pay the freight at the time. Tried negotiating on price and someone else ended up paying list price. Price was about double the list price on the one you’re looking at, was a 2020 with under 10k miles. FWIW

Correct. No bargaining. It's a reverse auction where the price drops until it sells.

What was your spec, I am curious? I had a dream spec but luckily I'm finding I like what I find. My only hard requirements are that it not be black,I don't want another black car
