They look great Tony. I got mine yesterday so I am in that 24-48 hr wait. I won't put a bracket on mine and leave the plate bare. We shall see how it looks

I recommend waiting the 48 hours for sure (I waited 24 hours). I am getting a new base because the bracket detached from the base. :( Luckily this happened with the car at rest.

OCD (Odometer Compulsive Disorder) aka Photographing Odometer Numbers

There are just 4 mileage intervals I wanted to get on this car, and I got 3 of them tonight. The fourth is 2015.

On my previous cars, I'd be checking the odometer obsessively for every 100 mile interval or significant numbers like 7777.7. On this car, I've had so much fun driving that I haven't checked the odometer as much :)

As recommended to me by someone else in another thread, you can search for it on Amazon.com. It's a nice piece. I think it is an official Mustang 50th item from Ford Merchandising.

NINTH TANK OF GAS - FUEL MILEAGE

Computer says 17.5 mpg, calculation method is 16.9 mpg. Driving mix was 70% city, 30% highway. Fuel is Shell 93 octane without ethanol. Mileage is now over 2040 miles.

TENTH TANK OF GAS - FUEL MILEAGE

Happy New Year and less expensive gas :) Computer reading was 18.6 mpg, calculated result was 17.6 mpg. Odometer is just under 2300 miles total. Driving mix was 55% highway, 45% city.

Tony, thanks for posting all of this great info. Now that you are on your tenth tank, are you getting the mileage you expected, or is it better/worse?

Steve, you have a nice car! Is it here??

Given my driving habits, it's in line with what I expected. I am not a devoted hypermiler in my daily driving :) Considering that I got similar numbers in my previous 2010 GT with 120hp less, I think this is a good result. I am eager to see what some nice highway trips will do, as I've only gotten to see it one time when I drove for 4 hours roundtrip to Lima, OH, which is 2 hours north of me.

I'd love to see a little more, but that means staying out of the throttle more than I usually do. Haha!

:ford:

Can't wait to see your photos. This car has been one of the most fun Mustangs I've driven. It's like Disney World EVERY TIME I GET IN AND GO!

CRAIG'S CUSTOM BRACKET - Base #2 Installation

I've had phenomenal support from Craig after my first bracket separated from the base. Fortunately, the plate and holder dropped to the ground, incurring no damage. This has been attributed to TWO things - 1) the ambient temperature when I originally put it on the bumper, and 2) not waiting long enough for the tape to take hold.

Craig has not only sent me a replacement base but he also included 3M 06396 adhesion promoter, which costs $10 per packet. This evening in my non-climate controlled garage, with space heater aimed at the front bumper for 90 minutes, along with a isopropyl alcohol wipedown, I applied the adhesion promoter. I waited 90 seconds and then stuck on the base. I am leaving the bracket off for a few days, as we are going to have a temperature drop starting Monday.

I'll post up how things go. If worse comes to worse, I might just drill holes in the bumper to mechincally attach the base. These holes would not be seen unless you are on the ground and looking up at the front fascia. I like the bracket's construction, as it locates the plate where I want it rather than down lower.

For those of you who doubt the efficacy of the 3M VHB automotive tape and adhesion promoter, here are a couple of videos that show how to apply it and how it holds weight.

OIL LEVEL CHECK #3 - 2200 miles

The oil level shows between the hash marks - seems OK so far. This is the factory fill oil and filter. I know that there are a good number of folks who do the early change, but I plan to go to 5000 miles before the first maintenance.
