I have a 2017 GT Premium, 6 spd. auto. (actually my wife's car). Approximately 92k miles. The car is bone stock except for a cat-back exhaust system, Brembo brakes, and aftermarket wheels.

I have recently noticed it seems like the transmission will occasionally drop out of gear or slip after a slow roll like in a parking lot or in slow, stop-and-go traffic. When I push the accelerator pedal it feels like the transmission may be slipping or out of gear for a second or so then slams back into gear causing a fairly hard jolt like a really hard shift. It doesn't do this all the time, only now and then and it seems to function normally most of the time. This only happens at very slow speed, after removing my foot from the accelerator to apply the brakes then moving back to the accelerator pedal. Any idea what's going on?

TIA

Check the info in this thread, it may apply to the 6R80 even though it’s for the 10R80. If the 6R80 uses a similar design, it could be what is happening with your 6R89:

Check your trans fluid level too. There is a 10R80 FAQ thread; in Post 1, Page 1 of that thread there are links on how to check the fluid level in a 10R80. The 6R80 will be of similar tech, except that the 6R80 fluid, dipstick and fluid levels may be different specs. Those linked threads will give you general idea of what is involved with checking the fluid level.

As for the hard jolt, if after checking the above and you find there no issues with the 6R80 clip and your fluid level is fine (has to be checked hot), then there is the possibility there’s an issue with your valve body. The events you explain couid be valve body related, but check the easy stuff first before jumping to conclusions and making guesses (at this stage).

Report back your findings.

Cobra Jet -
Thank you for the link and the detailed info. Based on what I've read, it's probably just low transmission fluid. It's going to be a few days before I can check it. But I will post up what I find, etc.

Update -
Not much to tell here. I ended up taking my wife's '17 GT to a local dealership to have them check the transmission fluid and run a diagnostic scan. Everything checked out perfect. Fluid level is correct, fluid looked good, relatively clean. No codes and all software is current.
Not really sure what to do next. It's a very intermittent issue. I only noticed the shifting issue because I drove the car to and from work every day for two weeks while my vehicle was down for repairs. I suppose I will just have to keep an eye on it and see if it gets worse or more frequent.
