So I know a few of you guys have been wanting to swap seats between an 18 to 15-17 or vice versa. But afraid of comparability issues with the air bags and what not. So I swapped a guy seats, my 17 premiums for his 18 recaros.. air bag light came on obviously.

So I was about to do a resistor just to get it to go off. But I decided to pull out the scanner to find the codes that were popping up. Instead of finding multiple codes, I only found one and the code that pulled up was the occupant classification system component installed was incorrect. Which that part is the passenger seat bladder, If you unplug it and clear the codes it’s lost communication with the COS. The guy I swapped seats with lives 8 hours away so swapping them out is out of the question.

So searching the webs, I found a bladder on eBay for sale, once it arrived I’ll let you guys know if it works or not. I’ve include pics down below for a little proof.

Ignore the code that’s not highlighted in the pic with two codes. I didn’t bother to clear it so it’s still saved in the fault bank. lol

Hello,

I have a 2017 ford mustang gt with the leather seats but not heated and cooled. I have swapped my seats now for a set of leather 2019 seats which have the heated and cooled option, the wiring matches up perfectly however, the airbag light is now on.
My question....would I have the similar problem like what you mentioned, where the passenger occupancy sensor and pad is differend to the one I had and therefore is causing an error and the airbag light is now staying on.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nick.

So in the images posted - what is seen is the sensor not the bladder - or is that image of the electronic part considered the “bladder”?

Bringing this back to life. Anyone get any answers about this.

I have an 18, with 15-17 Recaros installed. Do I need just the bladder? Passenger and Driver side or is there just one?

From what I can tell, I should have the 2018 OCSM and OCS bladder (JR3B-603B16-AC) installed in the passenger seat only and that is all. I guess that make sense because you cannot drive the car from just the passenger side so it would only need to know if there is a passenger in the car.

Anyone agree?

Just to update this old thread, this did fix the issue. Swap Passenger seat bladder from your old seats into your new ones and all is good. If you swapped someone seats just find a bladder like I did off eBay. I have a 19 bladder somewhere so I can get the part number for you and vice versa.

Bringing this back up, I have a similar situation except I swapped my heated/cooled seats for a 15-17 Recaro and put into my 15 and my airbag light is still on.

Swap bladder from your passenger seat to your recaros and should be good

Thanks but I screwed up and the stock seats are gone
if you’re still contact with the guy you sold them to ask for the part number off the sensor. It’s directly under your seat in the front with a clear tube attached. I can snap a pic when I go out and charge my oil. I did the same thing. I traded a guy and ordered a new/used bladder off eBay
