Howdy, I owned 3 fox body stangs back in the day and contemplating coming back into the corral with the GT350.

Since the fox body I have tended towards compactish 2 seater sports cars. Currently have a 2014 Cayman S.

I do wonder whether the S550 will feel a little too big for me. I need to go sit in a S550 and see for myself, but how many here have moved into the S550 from a small 2 seater? How's that going for ya? Have you adjusted such that the S550's size is a non-issue?

The 15 Mustang does feel big. It is a big car as far as sports cars go and yeah you feel the weight
It's also gotten wider this generation, and a bit heavier so those contribute. To be completely honest Mustangs have always felt a bit big. My 05 GT felt heavy, but that car got me more enjoyment than anything I had experienced in my life. And that is 100% proportional to the big V8 and the sh-eating grin all that horsepower and torque gives you. That is what, in my opinion, acts solely as a counterweight to the Mustangs weight.

It does feel big. It feels very tight, and very taut, but it certainly does feel big. Not so much when you're just sitting in it, but when you're driving it, it feels enormous -- but in a good way, not in a floaty way. It'll be a change if you're coming from a Cayman.

I am coming from an Audi TT... I can attest that it is a non issue... handles like a small car, it is bigger but not by too much... I got the gt premium with performance package, The handling is superb for a rwd compared to the Quattro I had before... you won't be disappointed

It definitely feels a bit bigger than my 06 S197, not just the exterior, but the interior is more roomy as well. You will probably need to adjust on your way home from the dealership but be fine after a day or two.

it took me several days to get accustomed to it from my small-ish WRX

I should also add that the handling is very predictable...hell lot more room inside compared to the TT ... it will not take long to get used to driving it... I love the sport+ mode which made it seem easier to shift coming from the Audi... everything seems to have smoothed out a bit so now normal mode is getting easier to use. Clutch is alot lighter which made me feel like I had to learn driving a manual all over again

It is the low end torque and push in the back that I miss from my fox bodys that has me contemplating a GT350, I am willing to give up a little nimbleness to gain some of that back, the cayman is a revver and has little low end torque. But I also don't want to feel like I am in a bathtub, I never liked that feeling in my 350Z which wasn't actually that big of a car but felt like one.

Defiantely test drive one first, coming from the Porsche.

My usual ride is a built STI & even I think this mustang is big from that car. The loooong hood and low seat exacerbate the issue too. Still getting used to it, but for my fun runs with buds on tight roads or AX, I prefer to take the STI out.

Not saying you won't enjoy it, just it'll take some seattime.

Yeah I feel you. Low end torque is the difference maker for me. A RWD V8 "feels" tangentially different to me than any other driving experience, it is in a word unique. It cant be replicated in the same way by other car types like the small roadsters, nor can the Mustang replicate those cars driving styles. I have to tell you though, that my perspective is decidedly from a wide open roads, miles of freeways, west coast USA perspective. In those road conditions nothing makes you happier than a GT with al that low end torque and power on demand at any point. On a freeeway going 60, gun it and smile. At a stop light anr want to take off? Gun it and smile. If I lived in Europe with narrow roads and windy roads I might not smile as much. But for American suburban and especially west coast driving, hands down the Mustang.

I went from a NA Miata to my 14, honestly I just get used to the size differences, though it feels weird for a day or two. From the 14 to the 15 though it felt like a bigger car, but then again it was all new to me again so it is hard to say.

My thought as well. If you're used to a Cayman, the Mustang is going to seem gigantic. And handle totally different.

The seat actually isn't that low -- one thing I've found myself doing a few times is trying to lower the seat when it's already all the way down, because it seems like you're sitting much higher than in an S197. It's not so high as to be uncomfortable, but it's definitely higher than I was expecting.

You also have to take into consideration just how much car is in front of you, because the driver's seat is waaaaayyyyy for back in the car. Especially if you sit (like I do) with the seat as far back as it'll go, you're basically sitting on the rear axle.

Still waiting for a BRZ Subaru slaps the STI motor & trans (but keeps RWD), Brembos and BBS. And keep the STI wings and and Pokemon add ons away.
