My desire is to add just a little more base to the stock 9 speaker mustang gt premium audio sytem. It seems that only (perhaps?) the ecoboost models and the gt350's have noise cancelation technology, which I understand plays havoc with an aftermarket subwoofer.

basically I'm trying to confirm that my '23 gt premium does not have active noise cancelation. Also, if the 9 speaker system has an amplifier, what do I need to do to account for the boosted signal if tapping the rear deck speakers for the subwoofer signal?

I've read a lot, and I wouldn't be asking if it were clear to me, so take it easy on the forum noob.

The GTs don't have any noise cancellation or engine sounds pumped through the stereo (I believe the V6s do). Does your car have the B&O system or is it the standard one? With mine, I replaced the B&O sub with a set of dual 12s and an amp. I used a audio control line output converter on the sub output. However, you can use the rear deck also, I just didn't because it was easier to use the OEM sub.

As said, the GT does not have active noise cancellation. If tapping the rear speakers to feed a subwoofer amp you need Forscan and an ODBII interface that does both Hi and Lo speed can buss.
Set the first two digits to 00 in the ACM (ignore all other digits). This is the address:
727-01-02 00xx - Disables Factory EQ Processing (ACM As-Built)

Thanks for responding. My car does not have the b&o system, just the standard 9 speaker system. the plan is to tap the rear deck speakers, however i've read in other places that some adjustments have to be made in Forscan in order to do this....something about bass clipping or something. I'm sure you wouldn't have to have done this because you were able to feed it from the original subwoofer feed.

Forscan doesn't support the '23 mustangs yet, afaik.

My other thought was to tap the center channel speaker for the subwoofer feed like some of the f150 guys have done. I haven't heard of any Forscan adjustments being done for that.

I am familiar with Forscan...when I try to run the software, i get a window that asks for the pcm part number. after searching the forscan forum, apparently this happens when the pcm is too new and/or unsupported at this point. i've used the software on my '21 f150 and my previous '17 mustang gt with no issues. i'm looking for a workaround, perhaps tapping the center channel speaker or the front door speakers perhaps.

There is bass roll-off in the stock system so you’ll definitely want to disable the EQ in forscan if able.

The audio control LC2i is supposed to restore base roll-off but I’ve no experience with it to verify. They also have the Epicenter which can independently boost base freqs.

just watched a video about the LC2i pro, and it seems like what i would want....however i really didn't understand all the guy in the video was saying. i know i need it or something like it, but i doubt if i could understand it enough to actually hook it up and adjust it appropriately.

so in short, it can be done, but it's not going to be just a simple (read inexpensive) powered subwoofer installation that i was hoping for, lol.

If you’re having a shop do the install the labor cost could equal the parts cost. So keep that in mind when planning your budget.

i was hoping to do it myself.....but it seems the issue with it not being supported by forscan is going to force me to talk to a shop. apparently the old line converters that convert speaker wires to an rca jack just aren't good enough for this deal. i can make all the connections, but i just don't think i could set up the lc2i....aside from knowing which amps and speakers and boxes are all compatible.

i had a rockford fosgate 10" powered subwoofer all picked out until i started reading about the base roll off and everything required to go along with it to make the system operate well..or at least well enough. i was thinking i could get it done for about $350 with me doing the work, but now, not so much. probably at least $7 to $8 hundred for a shop to do the install.

There’s been plenty of folks who’ve done this build without forscan so I doubt you’ll have much issue. Check out audio control’s website, they have all the install and setup notes and YouTube is a library of info as well.
