Battery not shutting off straight away.

Hi all.
Firstly let me say, this is an issue that has only just stated happening. It's not something that has always been the case...

I have a dash cam fitted and previously when I turn my engine off and open my door to get out, my dashcam turns off.
But for some reason now, when I follow the same process, the power to my dash cam remains on for quite some time. I kept an eye on it last night and it remained on for over an hour.
My cam is plugged into my cagarette lighter socket, next to the stop/start.
I have removed the dash cam to see if this was the problem and its not. After I removed the cam, got out and locked my car, the pilot light on the plug remained on so this tells me it's the battery not cutting off straight away.

My question is why all of a sudden has the battery stopped cutting out when I exit the vehicle, when historically it did straight away?
And is there a way to revert it back as I'm concerned it could effect the life of my battery short and long term.
Battery seems OK on start, showing 14.2v and will assume it will drop to 12.7 or there abouts after half hour or so.

The 12v source your plugging into should stay on for a bit after you shut the car off. An hour seems excessive but I charge my phone that way at work and it stays on for 15-30 mins after i shut the ignition off. I've never timed it to get an exact count. The only time it stopped doing this was when my battery was going out. Then it would shut off immediately to save the battery. You haven't replaced your battery recently have you?

The accessory plug and USB in my 2022 EB remain powered for 30 min or so after car id turned off and I exit. Never checked the exact duration.

Power will remain up to 75 minutes after switching off the ignition. Actual duration depends on battery health + capacity. There is a built-in voltage cut off for the battery, so you will always be able to start the car.

Before I hardwired my dashcam into place, I used the cigarette lighter as well. After a fairly long drive, the dashcam stays on about an hour after I turn off the vehicle. Other than that, it powers off within a few minutes.

Not sure if you meant to hit reply, but it's been about three or four years since it was replaced. First one died pretty quick, but this one's staying strong (still OEM).

I'm guessing that when you've noticed the power shutting off earlier, the battery didn't have a full, strong charge. And when you notice it staying on longer, it does.

Jesus dude....you're messing things up. I quoted your information to demonstrate that the age/health of the battery affects how long accessory power stays on.

OP, have you replaced your battery recently?

Batttery hasn't been replaced since I've had the car (just under a year)
I had just come back from a long journey just prior to me noticing this issue.. I clocked up a good 7 hours driving when I drove to the coast.. This would tie in with what Midnight mustang said about the long drive. Strange thing is, I've been long distance many times before this.. Unless I've never noticed it before.

Depends on the dash cam. Mine has some fairly loud chirps and beeps (BlackVue 750 series), to where you would notice differences with time. If you're is more subtle (less noise, or less lights), it can be harder to notice.

But, perfectly normal behavior.

I think it's 100% to do with the Batttery charge.
Cars been sitting on my drive for 4 days and I needed to nip out today. Very short trip but when I got back and opened my door, the battery cut off straight away. I checked the battery charge and 11.2 was the reading.. So that issue has been figured out but now its posed another question...
Why has my battery drained to 11.2 after 4 days of sitting?
Everywhere I check, 11.2 is considered close to, if not completly flat. The car started fine though so I don't know what that's about.

I just installed the radar detector my son gave me for Christmas using the same cig lighter 12V socket. Ran my car a few miles around town and when I parked it the detector remained on for about 3 mins after ignition was turned off. The radar detector on start-up gave me a low battery voltage warning....interesting....3 month old car with a low voltage reading. hmmmmm
