First ever 2020 GT500 15 inch rear conversion. I searched alot to do this and couldn't find another done. One side done and fits. Other side is almost done. Will be driving to work on Monday with beadlocks lol. The brakes are from my old 2015 gt and I've had them sitting in a box the whole time waiting lol. This is not a road racing setup. Fronts will be a couple weeks.

😄 Being used to the GT500 rear brakes and calipers it is crazy how small these ones look on the photo.

What's the advantage of the smaller rim, more flex in the tire and hence more surface area/traction for launch?

I run M/T P325/35-18 ET STREET RADIALS on my 2020 GT500!

Mostly in my view is the massive weight savings by switching out all the brakes, wheels and tires. Then less rotational mass and resistance. Then the prices of wheels and tires go way down also.

I know most on here will not like that being done to a GT500, but I like it. That's cause I've always been a drag racer though. Why not go to race brakes or is that a future plan? I can't wait to see the final pics

It does have Aerospace drag race brakes on the back.

I'm glad you are amused. Someday maybe you can do something to a 2020 up GT500 that is the first time ever done.

I took out "world" since that seems to be a big deal to you even tho it's true.

Nice. Now take off the wickers and gurney flap to cut down on that 1/4 mile time. Extra drag that is not needed at the strip!!!!
Also put in the rain tray.

I was actually wondering how much resistance those make. If anyone knows I'd like to hear it.

They are there for a reason and that reason is to cause down force to create more traction. More downforce means more drag an undesirable force for a drag car.
How much, I don't know.

I agree. Pbd and Lethal take their big wings off for their 8 second passes. Evolutions car has the standard wing with no flap. I'd still like to know any data relating to true resistance for the guys who want the downforce.

I just read the gurney flap adds 100 lbs of downforce at 120 mph. So add 100 lbs to the car at 120 mph. Not sure how the drag plays into it but it must slow the car since it is not as slippery through the air and in effect 100 lbs heavier??
Have not found anything on the whickers.

EDIT: 3:21 mark said 41 lbs of down force. Not exactly the same at the GT500 wickers but that gives an idea.
