How many S550 Owners don't use all the Tech available to them in their S550?

All fluff.

The one and only reason I ordered a Premium was to get the Redline interior, the only other option was the Performance Pack. I don't consider it tech, but even the AC is rarely used since it's a fair weather toy only and the windows are down. I absolutely hate touchscreens in cars (dumbest thing ever), and would have ordered the car radio delete if I could have. Really, the only "tech" I use is to pair my phone in case of calls, but after getting a new phone months ago I haven't bothered to pair it in the Mustang. I've messed with most of the stuff but don't use it, fluff like I said.

I use the carplay as well as the sync depending on my mood.

I do use the mycolor but have never used the track apps.

I don't use the cooled seats but did try it and it worked good for my me.

The one thing I use the most (because I can) is the remote start when walking to the car in the morning for the first start. Always hoping there is someone around who jumps a little. :giggle:

the Sync3's 4" display is sharp, easy to read, and 6-speaker sounds just fine. I only stream BT audio in the form of Hair Nation (XSM) or a single pod-cast I subscribe to. I don't use my phone for a juke-box even though I theoretically could download 32GB worth of MP3. I wouldn't DREAM of using broke-ass Ford software to navigate the collection when I can do that with Android or Amazon Music, or VLC player.

My F150 has the 8" Sync3 and I only use it for the inaccurate traffic reporting and modest waypoint navigation because I don't have a good mount for the phone just yet, and if I really need navigation I'll fire up Android Auto/Google Maps and slave the display. But I almost never need help navigating (I'm a man, afterall) so I do that only when I'm alone. (ok, I lied. Emcel has seen me use the Ford NAV. once, ok twice)

The heated seats in the F150 do get used. But I wouldn't order them for the Mustang.

Tech is IMO 'da devil'. It's a pointless exercise by the auto industry which hasn't a prayer against Google/Apple, and so will forever be consigned to churn out craptastic software that doesn't work, for obscene $$$ to pad the bottom line. AutoMondial (a Motortrend TV production) pisses me off to no end on their incessant harping about tech. "IT's a GOD DAMN CAR, LEAVE the TV/Game/VCR at HOME you useless wankers! " (phew, where are my BP meds?)

It's a shame this chip shortage isn't forcing Ford et. al. to just wholesale shove the Tech stack overboard and stripping the car to the bare essentials and selling them that way.

2021 101A with the 8" SYNC

Auto Headlamps ... Never Use
Auto High-Beams ... gave it a try, I do a better job so OFF
Auto Wipers .... gave it a try, I do a better job so also OFF
Auto Start-Stop ... never tried, OFF (not sure if it even has the feature)
Lane Keeping System ... never tried, OFF (came that way)

Tech that I do use:
* Have the Active Exhaust programed to be quiet until 7:00 AM
* Auto Climate is set at 74Deg F
* Bluetooth with Phone works great (much better than 4" screen), use it all the time
* Have 64GB Thumb Drive with all my music on it, use it often (will not work on our 2018 Fusion w/ 4" screen, maybe a smaller 32 or 16GB would)
* Like the bigger screen for the back-up camera and have gotten to the point where I like the back-up sensors (and wish the 2018 Fusion had them)
* Have the frontal collision RED Screen set at the closest distance and it still goes off from time to time, however AUTO-BRAKING has never activated yet (it did on a rental in Boston though !!).
* Blind Spot / Cross Traffic Alert has gone off a few times and is nice.
* Hill Start Assist is nice with the 6MT (2016 had it too).
* Drive Modes are fun to play with, but it mostly stays in normal.

* "Windshield Sensor-Blocked' warning screen can be annoying when it is raining or snowing. If it were to just pop up once ... OK, but repeating every few minutes is a bit much. I don't care if it can't "see" I can see fine !!

My 2016 was 100A with 4" Screen ... I rented 3 Mustangs with the 8" screen before I got the 2021 and I was always glad to get back in the 2016. Well, now I've finally gotten used to it and you can say I'm now a convert.

I don't use any of the phone features (bluetooth, calling, texting etc.). I don't really use the nav system for routing, although I will occasionally use the map to generally orient myself. I never use the automatic temperature mode on the climate control.

I didn't buy the tech packages with stuff like lanekeeping, adaptive cruise, emergency collision braking, etc. as I'd rather be in full control. Someday I might like to have adaptive cruise but I doubt it will be offered separately as they love to sell things in bundles.

As to some tech I actually want in cars, that no one ever seems to provide:

* Diagnostic screen(s) to show stored OBD codes (or even better, real-time OBD2 data)

* Gauges that provide data from actual measurements (not derived or estimated values, and not "idiot gauges" programmed to always read in the center)

My car is pretty loaded but I pretty much just use the mode selector and occasionally the GPS. As long as the top drops and I can get the AE into the track setting I don’t even use the high dollar stereo I paid for.

Although I have the 401a package I haven’t figured out how to make the TPMS do anything but let me know there’s a low tire somewhere. Can anybody enlighten me how to get it to display the actual pressure at each corner, without having to sign up for Ford Pass?

I use Waze on my Sync screen all the time. I never ever use voice commands. And I use "fmradiofree" app with Android Auto for music.

on the main gauge display press the up arrow and it shows all four tire pressures. Right hand up arrow on the steering wheel. found out too if your adding air you need to hop in and drive around the block for the TPMS to register new levels. it's a crappy air gauge...

I use navigation and sport mode. I occasionally use the heated/cooled seats. I don't need much else but speedometer, gas, oil and temp gauges. Navigation is kind of iffy, so I don't know how much longer I'll use it.

....me.....

All I care about is; push start button, snick the trans shifter into 1st gear and go.
@ 67, I don't care about loud music, just as long as it is playing.
Track apps and the other junk; couldn't care less........................................:computerrage:

I don’t really know what all the buttons do on the steering wheel and I don’t play with any of the control in sync 3. I just drive the car. I do use Apple Carplay and Waze

Heck, you’re ahead of me. I’ve heard of Sync 3 but I don’t even know what it is. If it has anything to do with hooking up to some Ford app I don’t want to know either.

I’m a fan of the tech available in today’s cars. Adaptive cruise and front collision avoidance are nice features. My Mustang and Toyota have lane departure, it is more annoying than anything else. Apple car play is one of the computer god’s gifts to mankind. I’ve set the automatic climate controls to 70 and pretty much never touch them. Heated steering wheels are game changing during the winter months. I do like playing with the different drive modes that link the magneride and active exhaust.
