I'm looking to at a ZL1addons tow hook to my '21, which I use primarily for track events.
- I don't want to drill the OEM painted cover if I can help it. As far as removing it - I think I saw a photo that the tether is essentially a loop with a barb on the end? Can that be removed cleanly through the cover opening?
- For a replacement (I think it comes in black raw plastic) - does anyone have this part number?

Thanks!

Update - the tether is barbed, and I was able to use a combination of picks to move it around, and some longer needle nose pliers to help squeeze it. the pointed piece of the barb broke, but the barb itself is fine. Back to part # as main question.

ZL1 tow hook with the plain black cover. I think it looks ok & going to leave it as is. I added a plastic black collar to the drilled hole to finish it off.
that is the factory cover - MR3Z 17E811 A - and it only comes black, unpainted. No color match from Ford ? I installed the ZL1 main shaft with the LH threads, took some exact measurements & drilled the 1/2” hole with a step bit. I later opened the hole to 9/16” to accommodate a sleeve to give it a finished look. Used blue loctite to assemble the hook eye with jam nut. I’m keeping my OG blue cover unmolested. Only wanky issue is ZL1 uses a RH thread for tow eye/jam nut making it a cumbersome procedure to tighten it all up. If they would have used a LH thread, it would be straight forward. Hope this helps.

Can anyone post instructions on how to open the cover without breaking the little clips? The manual instructions are worthless.
