2017 GT350 now gone to a great home.
Each local hospital uptakes Covid patients from the immediate area. We hit 30,000 cases today in Illinois, breaking the all time record since the beginning.

The point was - that chart showed bed and ICU capacity at the lowest point if the pandemic for WA (end of july/1st week Aug) was identical to now - 100% beds filled, 83% ICU.
Yet this is what YOU wrote that precipitated my reply:

People keep posting this fear-mongering nonsense. Did hospitals ever get to 100% capacity? Do you realize that a large percentage of "covid hospitalizations" are people in the hospital for various reasons and happen to test positive? And re: children covid hospitalizations, doctors are reporting less serious symptoms compared to the delta wave. Chill out, omicron is the beginning of the end ' almost everyone is going to get it.

You were proved wrong on almost every point here yet twist it around somehow that I am the one who is clueless. Oh, and in my world Chill out = Fine.

Go take some pills and bugger-off Troll.

We hit our all time high yesterday.

We are at 70% vaccination rate now and all 10 regions in Illinois have between 85-100% of the ICUs occupied. Lots of mild cases, obviously, but more cases going around brings more hospitalizations and death, in particular for those unvaccinated.

Some of our testing sites here are hitting 40% positive. In our labs we do batch testing and the high positivity rate has really slowed down the process as each patient in a positive batch must be individually run. We no longer are testing asymptomatic patients (for travel, etc.) and all surgeries or admits that can are be postponed.

We can't keep running our hospitals at 100% capacity for much longer. People who stick their heads in the sand about it should keep their mouths shut lest they get filled with sand.

Wow - 40% positivity rate. You are missing a LOT of cases. Anything above about 6% positivity is a serious concern.

Indeed. It is wise to just assume everyone you come into contact with has it.

Of course it will get worse but it's not the end of the world and won't be as bad as the delta wave.
It will get worse - but to confidently claim it will not be worse than the 'delta' wave is brave! The evidence is pretty clear from countries ahead of you in the 'omicron' wave is that case numbers have rocketed and hospital admissions are now also rising very fast. In the UK where most have now had the booster, admissions are rising sharply in the last few days - about 3 weeks after the cases started rising. The early cases were in young people (much less likely to be hospitalised) but it is now seeding into older at risk people. Remember SA has a much younger population than UK or US as well. Add in flu, which in some countries such as Israel is now combining with COVID to add yet more pressure, and it will be a tough few months for healthcare.

Nobody can claim with any genuine confidence what is going to happen in the UK never mind the US. Some states in the US have very low vaccination rates which will have a localised impact on the disease.

It isn't the end of the world, but it is a very significant blip on the road to recovery.

Every point "proven wrong"? Good lord what a blithering idiot. You have no clue about any of this. If you do actually work in Healthcare it must be as a janitor as your ignorance is staggering.

Covid hospitalizations as of Sept 2021 - 40-45% were incidental:

Troll? That's hilarious! Happy new year nitwit!!

Do you think the Delta wave is over now? You would be wrong about that.

Again, you are clueless.
Again more idiocy. I didn't say delta is over - most people hospitalized and dying now are from delta. But delta is rapidly being overtaken by omicron. 13% 2nd week of December, 73% 3rd week. By now it's probably over 90%.

Here's a suggestion so you don't continue to embarrass yourself. Do some research before posting blatant nonsense. Of course, the problem for you is someone who knows nothing about science doesn't understand any of this. Which is painfully obvious.

Yes testing capacity has been a huge failure here. UK is doing ~ 1.5 million tests/day. We are at 2 million. We should be 3 to 4 times that level.
