Help me convince my mom

And since I was able to decipher what you wrote my advice is this. The only way to win here is to get your sister excited about driving a manual transmission car. Only once she is excited to learn then teach her.

If sister is focused on driving, and a manual transmission is much more engaging, she is much less likely to be distracted, i.e. taking a selfie, texting, social media, applying makeup.

Well I'm dude, my dad didn't had any money when he was young either, I'm just trying to get the manual (with is cheaper ) instead of the auto, not a big deal, I even asked them to give me a bmw series 1 wicho costs almost 20k less but they want the mustang, I don't know why some people get mad just because I'm trying to convince my mom to get the manual, it's just a choice, if we get the auto is ok, it's like the color it doesn't really matters, what matters is that it is a mustang

College is nothing but a degree or a piece of paper... What really counts is that you really can perform your work in the real world.... I joined the military completely against my moms beliefs... To give you an Idea...I am an eggbeater child from 2 different wars.... My Dad from surviving/liberated from forced labor camp in WW2 and then later going to Vietnam during the war where my mom is... I popped out in Dallas...lol.... I busted my ass for everysingle thing I owneven though a car was touted too... its my life, school puts me to sleep You will be able to get what you want if you have a decent job BUT going to college will also make it difficult to get a job that pays well while you are in school... My mom always swears to me to buy a Auto so she can drive it but i will not on a sports car

Here is the kicker... Mustangs are a hot commodity...in other words... can be popular to being stolen or even carjacked. Many of this Generation barely knows how to drive a manual....odds are the theifs won't either There are alot of news out there of people getting jacked but they could not drive away in a manual... so they ran off

I'm really not trying to be a jerk here or lay on a guilt trip...just listen. Look at that sentence you wrote and tell me you're ready or focused for college. There is an old military saying..."pay attention to detail". This discipline encompasses everything. It could be writing a sentence on an internet forum or involve large life decisions like a new car. Don't you think your parents would be more proud of you and you proud of yourself by not burdening them with a new car? It sounds like they are paying for your school as well. Do the right thing; earn your own way in life.

Do yourself and your parents a favor and get a beater car and focus on what matters in your life at your age. Mustangs and such will come with time...you should earn them....yourself.

I also think that this car will be the next one to be wrecked Not to go into details but you are sharing the car... I would be telling mom to turn on every single safety feature for that second driver on mykey...lol Sorry... just my opinion but the last 3 cars I have had have all been rearended by women... young adult drivers are no help either because i almost got into a wreck with one yesterday pulling their car out inforont of my truck... It was a very close call

My most practical argument is this.... Everyone, including your mother and sister, should learn how to drive a manual transmission. You never know when you will be in a situation to where you will need to drive one. For example: If there is an emergency and the only vehicle available is a manual then they should be able to drive one. Something like this: They are with friends that drove their manual and they break a leg and need to get to the hospital.

easily the best reason. everyone should know how to drive a manual at the very least.

Also after learning how to drive a manual I am a firm believer that driving a manual makes you a safer driver because you have to pay more attention to what you are doing at all times. When I bought my last mustang I didn't even know how to drive a manual. My friend drove it home from the dealership and taught me over the weekend and I absolutely love driving manuals now. I get so bored in automatics... I may be one of the few who doesn't mind getting stuck in traffic in it either.

I think that the point being here is that "beggars should not be choosers" should still apply. You have a voice, but not the only voice... would have killed to get that kind of car for going to college. My first car was a 1993 Thunderbird LX, which was 8yo at the time. All of the rest I paid for with my own hard earned $$.

I do have to agree with you here, all of the best things that I have had have been earned. May not have been the best things out there, but they were mine dog gone it, and I had to sacrifice something else for them. But let's be real, if I were 19 again and my parents had offered me a brand new Mustang, I would have had a hard time saying no.

Worked my Azz off to buy my first car a 10 year old 1994 ford probe gt I was the happiest teenager the day I picked it up because all my hard work payed off. I loved that car respected it, continued to work hard to keep it running, mod it, pay speeding tickets etc..
As people said before just be thankful for what your parents are giving you auto or not and please don't total her out!!
