I want to get the perfect size tires for my new 20in. Roush wheels. Can somebody help me out and give some suggestions? I was thinking 305/35/20 in the rear and 295/40/20 in the front. The rims are 20x9.5. would the tires fit? I need some help please

The 20x9.5 wheels are narrower than the recommended size for both of the size tires you listed, but the tires would fit on them. A 295/40R20 would be a huge tire in the front and most likely would rub. Besides it would be almost exactly an inch taller than the rears. Maybe you meant to write 295/35R20...

So 35 in the front and 30 on the rear? Or do you think 35 all the way around?

I would say 35 all around. Is there a reason you want to go with a 295 on the front? Are you looking to go as wide as possible? Keep in mind, everything past about 285 on a 9.5 width wheel is actually bulge. Having bulge is not necessarily idea. I personally think a 9.5" width on a 20" wheel looks a little off compared to a 9.5" on a 19" wheel.

The other issue you are going to run into with the 295 sizes are they are often made as OE for specific vehicles like Mercedes, etc and are actually not as wide as a standard 295 in treadwith, so you have to make sure you choose the correct tire. Tire Rack shows 5 different tires in the Michelin PS4 in a size 295/35R20. Only one is considered the standard tire. The others are OE for Mercedes, Ferrari, and Porsche. The tire made for the Mercedes has a treadwith that is equal to a 275.

It can get to be a little confusing when deviating from normal tire sizes. On the 9.5 19" wheels, many of the guys go with a 275/35R19 or 285/35R19 all around, or they go with a 30 ratio.

I forgot to mention that the 2018-2021 Stage 3 Roush vehicles come with 275/35R20 Continentals.

I just wanted better grip but if 295 is too
wide for the front what would you recommend? Do you think I should go same size all the way around? I just wanted a wider tire in the back but if you say different I will consider it. Also what brand tire do you recommend? I got 19s on it right now with pirelli pzeros and I dont like the way it looks

If you want wider on the back; I would do a 275/35R20 front and 285/35R20 on the rear. Many people go the same all-around just so they can rotate tires. When you install tires that can't be rotated the manufacturers typically only warranty them for half the normal miles.

What weather temps do you normally have there in Hacinda Heights? I am not sure if you are in the upper elevations where it can get chilly in CA.

If you are going to run strictly a summer tire. I would recommend in the following order: Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, Continental Extreme Sport Contact and then the Firestone Firehawk. The Michelin is the best tire, but more expensive. The Firsetone is the cheapest but still a good tire. The Continental is a great tire and very close to the Michelin in performance and dry/wet weather.

If you are in area where you need all-season tires. I would recommend Michelin Pilot Sport AS4 and then the Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 plus. Both of these are very good tires and perform all most as well as the summer tires I listed in dry weather. They tend to not cost as much as the summer tires.

I really appreciate your info. I'm in loa Angeles and it's pretty much hot all the time a little rain here and there. I think summers would be fine. So you think 285 is wide enough for back? Is that the widest I I can go for them not to bulge? I got 285 right now and they seem thin.

Lol, I was going to suggest not going with the Roush wheels. Many of us that run 20s use a 10" wide wheel on the front and an 11" wide wheel on the back. I'm running 275/35R20 on front and 305/35R20 on the rear. When looking at my car from the rear, you can definitely tell the tires are much wider. If I wasn't lowered as much as I am, probably could get away with a 315 on the rear

Oh, if you're looking for grip, the compound of the tire makes a lot more difference than the size. For grip, go with those summer tires I mentioned. The Michelin is considered as one of the best summer tires. Now, if you need more grip from the dig, you will have to go to a drag radial.

I don’t like how the 275/40 looks on the PP wheels. I could imagine how much more bulge there will be with a 285 tire. Oh My God No!! Don’t do it. Get wider wheels

? I am not sure you know what bulge is. I've had 285s mounted on 9" rim - while they were pinched (and hard to mount), they weren't visibly bulging. What you see on 275/40 PS4S is not a bulge - it's how that tire is designed - with a little bit of added distance from the rim of the wheel.

Correct, now a true 295/305 on a 9 1/2 would have bulge. That's why I told OP earlier, up to 285.
