The bandwidth is nice but I think the low capacity is going to cause problems in a few years.
I agree, Nvidia made a mistake with their memory capacities with the 3 series, likely to make the 3090 look better. In reality everything but the lower tier should have had 12GB, with all top tier variants getting 16GB. AMD definitely wins in that aspect with Navi2. However, the purpose of this is a strong 2K gaming stopgap to last me through the rest of this absolute nonsense, so if it becomes capacity limited at some point I'll upgrade again.

The gaming and entertainment product industry should be asked to curtail development and production in deference to the needs for government, communications, security defense and aerospace industries needs.
Don’t want to be mean, but WHTF cares about Chinese video card upgrades to support a ā€œgameā€ when we are short on enough chips to keep our fellow Americans in business and with an income.

My video card is actually used for "work".. Gaming is just a hobby. None of these GPU's are made in fabs that are taking work away from "workers".. The chips in trucks aren't being made in a 7nm fab..

Neither my wife or I could do our jobs without the tech we've got. But, that's irrelevant. The entire premise of GPU chips keeping people from an income is absolutely absurd. If you wanted to divert output to critical sectors, tell Apple and Samsung to stop using up more than half the global capacity making "new" phones.

Gaming is a drop in the bucket compared to the mobile sector. Both Nvidia and AMD get the scraps leftover, same as the auto industry, and any other buyer that isn't cranking out smart phones.

@IPOGT, unless you're here to talk about "games", you can go and get the hell on somewhere else.

Halo Infinite is the next new release I'm looking forward to. My friendship with my best friend started because we were neighbors (also like 9 or 10 y/o) and he wanted someone to play the original Halo with in coop (the original not having online multiplayer). I'm gonna bring my rig over to his place so we can get drunk and do an old fashion LAN party playing the campaign.

I haven't played Halo since CE because they weren't on PC until recently. I tried to dive into the Master Chief collection, but couldn't get into the gameplay flow of the older games. I'll check out Infinite's campaign for sure. Don't know if it will grab me though.
They seem to keep the gameplay a bit faithful. Although I will admit that it was hard for us, as well, when we tackled the MCC. We were stoked for Halo CE but got bored of the mp in every game but reach and halo 4. 4, IMO, being the most enjoyable. Infinite is the first halo game being released on the PC simultaneously so I'm hopeful some gameplay elements will reflect that.

Too bad Halo won't have couch co-op enabled right away for the campaign.. Granted, I know this is the PC thread but I was really looking forward to playing the campaign with my wife and kids on the Xbox Series X...

Split screen Multiplayer is apparently delayed on PC too...

I'm so out of playing FPS though that when I played MCC on PC I had to bust out the controller cause I wasn't feeling the KBM... Other FPS games (Doom & Quake) just feel natural with keyboard & mouse. Halo & COD on PC I still have to rock a controller.

I've been playing Yakuza Like a Dragon on my phone using XBOX Cloud Gaming and it's pretty badass... Other than that, I probably need to retire from Rocket League :p

Controller is, apparently, superior for MCC and even COD. Granted I only used the KBM so I can't back this up. I occasionally play with some friends from work and they freak out at the scores I post with KBM. Ten years ago I distinctly remember it being the other way around; you were seriously handicapped using a controller. My guess would be that some revisions to the auto aim have occured to make it competitive to KBM. Maybe it auto targets the head instead of the lower body like the days of the old? Maybe one day I'll try it haha. Right now my controller is strictly single plaher.

We've got a 2nd gaming PC hooked up to a 70" in front of a giant power-reclining couch. Don't let the peasants get you thinkink they own the living room.
Same, when we do PC gaming in the living room it's on my 14" Razer (RTX3080) hooked up to our 65" and surround sound. We've been playing Horizon Zero Dawn. My kids are huge fans of games with women as the main character :)

I used to have a Home Theater PC in a really nice case. Had a 1080ti and 2 1070's that mined when I was gaming. Loved it when you could put a tuner card in and use Windows Media Center as a DVR.

(This is our living room gaming setup. 7.1 surround. ignore the cinder block entertainment center. We are renting right now so it's temporary.. Horizon is pretty bad ass with good sound)

The biggest problem with the shortage is because of bitcoin mining. There really wasn't any issues with getting a card before that was a thing. The demand has only gone up and also gaming has increased because of the lockdowns and 'stay at home' vibe thats been going on, but its not really gaming itself thats the problem.

You do bring up a good point, I never looked into it but I wonder when it will be considered a national security problem when new high tech military equipment can't actually be produced or replaced because of the shortages. I wonder if the defense industry has a solid grip on their supply line, they always have Washington watching their back so I imagine if things get worse it won't be a problem.

I don't think he was talking about the GPU shortage.. He is talking about the chip/fab shortage for other industries.

Aaaannnnyway...what's on everyone's upcoming game wishlist?

Forza Horizon 5 looks cool as hell, and is out in November. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is another I'm really looking forward to. Further out, there's Starfield. You legit might never see me again when that game drops

What's on everyone's radar?
I really couldn't get into the Forza games. I always liked Gran Turismo better. I had Forza 7 and the last Horizon game and it didn't really do much for me. I was looking forward to GT7 but honestly the fact that they are making it for the PS4 & PS5 made me lose all hype for it. They kinda did the same thing with GT6 and released it for PS3 around the release of the PS4. GT5 was my favorite. Couldn't get into the Stalker games because I am just not a fan of the survival games but I know its really good if you are into that.

There isn't much on my radar expect for Warhammer 3 and Company of Heroes 3. I watched the preview for COH3 looked pretty good, not sure how I feel about the campaign because they using Total War's playstyle. The other game I am looking forward to is Elden Ring. Love the Dark Souls series. I didn't like Dark Souls 1 that much but I absolutely loved Dark Souls 3. I started off with Demon Souls and loved it. I will end up getting a PS5 just to play the remake lol.

I played all of the Resident Evil games including RE 8 as well as Devil May Cry 5, I am really looking forward to playing them on my new PC and seeing how good they looked in 2k with the 6900XT. Ready to see how shitty my 860M really is, it'll be like having sex for the first time šŸ˜ Btw I found out that I have the Red Devil Ultimate so I am super stoked. it was $1,600 when I bought it and now its $2,300. I am pretty sure I bought the last ones on Newegg, because mine was shipped from NJ and now it says they come from a supplier in Hong Kong :giggle:
