Hey everyone,

I've had my A/C repaired 3 times. Here is a link to the work they did.

The last time I put in a ticket w/Ford Corporate. I'm planning to do that again. My appointment is next Friday.

Is the dealer doing anything obviously wrong based on the linked repairs performed?

Is there something else I can do?

I love driving my car but I'm convinced the only reason the A/C lasted this long on the last repair is because I barely drove anywhere last year.

Thanks in advance.

They can’t replace it if its not leaking, looks like they had a bad run of txv valves sticking closed high side pressure was to high and killed the compressor.

I gave back my GT350--probably the most fun car I've ever driven--because Ford couldn't keep my A/C cool. They replaced everything, but nothing helped.

In looking over your repair receipts, it looks to me like they never replaced the evaporator core? (Only the valve?) The evaporator on the 2015-2017 cars is known to be shit, there's even a TSB for it:
https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2018/MC-10144920-9999.pdf

Edit: here's the thread on this board all about it

Thanks, the NHTSA page makes me wonder why they didn't replace the evaporator core.

If their diagnosis was correct, why is it broken again? Just the evap core now after all this time?

I don't have that option, unfortunately. I'm leaning towards not keeping it beyond the extended warranty at this point though.

Parts now suck nothing is quality its an epidemic. It doesn’t shock me they had a bad run of TXV valves. It makes us look like bad techs because they have no quality and its not just ford.

I just had a timing job come back because GM doesn’t know how to build a timing chain tensioner. Its getting ridiculous and im thinking about changing careers.

Pretty much got scammed by the dealer today.

The conversation with the service advisor was via text, made sure to save it.

They said it was 0.5lbs low. They filled it. The compressor worked fine. They stated that there were no leaks.

I asked him if 0.5lbs was enough to stop it from blowing cold air, and a reason for it losing that amount.

The exact response was: "It's right on the cusp... we dye tested the system and cannot find any leaks at this time. It is a sealed system so we're scratching our heads as to why it was slightly low and why we can't find any leaks."

Meanwhile I have Ford ESP and they billed me $180 without escalating to Corporate TEch.

My first new car was a '91 Thunderbird, and it was the same story. Every 6-12 months the AC would fail, the dealer would service it and it would work for a while again, and then conk out. They could never find the leak and/or they were just trying to get me out of the warranty period. Refrigerant doesn't just magically disappear...it's leaking somewhere. I know it's frustrating, maybe try a different dealer if it fails again?

Corporate talked to the dealership. I know this is totally shocking, but they've replaced the evaporator core. They found a small leak on the back of the evaporator core they previously missed. Shouldn't need to pull teeth to get to this point, but at least it's done.
