30-35,000 for a run-of-the-mill 4-door sedan is unfortunately where we're at. In that regards a GT is priced within reason. Yes buying a 'premium' trim Mustang (which has historically been a cheap-shit stripper car with too much motor) is crazy.
This! The ”average” price of a new car was $37k (before the artificial increases due to the chip shortage). A 460hp base GT is what, $42k? I think that’s one hell of a value. Now if you want all the bells and whistles that going to climb quickly but no one if forcing you to spend that.

nobody cares what USED to be the case 30 years ago. The youth weren't even born then.

Yawn. it is a youth car or an empty nester.
Not a family car. I guess we will agree to disagree.
No one with a family is looking at a mustang as the family daily driver. or any 2 door for that matter. It is why, they canned most 2 doors in the 90's.

Define youth.

Today’s Mustang buyers are Gen X & Boomers. Gen Z aren’t buying cars at all. Most millennials are buys SUV/CUV’s.

A base gt is a unicorn, they might be a thing, but never seen on lots, even in 2019 when I started to entertain getting one, most on the lots were 46-51k .
Maybe I'm out of touch, but cars costing half of what my house did, seems nuts to me.

Gen z can't buy or drive vehicles, cash for clunkers made used cars pricey, and insurance is nuts, for drivers under 25.
My son, no wrecks, no tickets it 2618.17 a year insurance bill.
That is a tall order for a kid in school, working part time at a low wage.

right, cause you're an old guy. 100K for a house? Did you buy in 1960? Houses are well north of 300 is many markets. 100k barely buys you a 2 bedroom condo. PLENTY of 300A/301A GT down here in Virginia. My PP1 is a 300A. Quite a few 100A and 101A EB too. In fact it was somewhat rare to find a 20x trim level.

For whatever reason Mustangs are a >30yr old purchase now with I would guess a distinct bump in the >40 bracket.

Maybe. When was the last time the cost a decent house was $100k?

Cash for clunkers was before Gen-Z's time. There have always been affordable used cars and insurance for teenagers has always been nuts.

You seem to have a thing for comparing current times to the past. I think of the old saying, "the more things change, the more they stay the same".

Na, but because Son lives with us, (17y/o)our insurance on our cars jumped as well.
He is into cars, and bunch of his friends are also. most say they don't buy a used mustang, camaro, etc because the insurance is stupid high.
He drives a 79 Farmont because of insurance, as it sits it is the same as a worked over '92 fox mustang, but 1/3rd the cost to insure.

102k needing light updating and interior paint. but 10k of DIY and instant 310k in 2007 before the bubble went pop.

still haven't bought a house at 49.
Lived in apartment houses till we made the decision to move to NJ in 95' Rented a townhouse and really liked not having an elevator. Decided I wanted privacy and the ability to walk around my own property. So we made the transition to a private home in 96'. I'm not looking to change anytime in the near future but some of those beachfront condo's in North Myrtle Beach are awfully tempting. :giggle:
