So I'm interested in buying my first Mustang GT.
Since I've decided to purchase one, I've been reading about order/price/tracking, and apparently, it will take forever to receive my car.

I visited 3 dealerships / made 2 phone calls to ask ETA for the custom order, and all they said are expect 12 weeks.
Do you think it's legit? Can I believe that timeline?
Because I live in Michigan, and there's no point to order & receive car after October.

The dealer should be able to tell you last day to order a 2021 but I remember reading deadline was in October. I placed my order on June 11 for a 2021 GT Cali Special and told to expect 8 - 12 months. Well Christmas came early. I received order confirmation from Ford the following week with a vin # and scheduled build date starting July 26. That puts my delivery around September if I’m lucky. I was in no hurry and just rolled the dice. I’ll see if they stick to schedule, time will tell. I live in NJ and would take delivery on Christmas Day as long as it wasn’t snowing šŸ˜Ž and if it was…….I’d still get it home.

Yeah they told me order no later than October.
I hope your timeline works as you expected.
Never driven RWD and don’t wanna risk during snowy winter, so I guess I need to think about the order little bit more

I’m not sure where you’re located but check the entire country. GTā€˜s and GT Premiums are out there. It’s the Mach 1’s and the GT500’s that you can’t really get. I have plenty of GTā€˜s near me it’s just a matter of getting exactly what you want.

I live near Detroit (east south Michigan?).
Nothing what I want near 100 mi, so I’ll try increase the range.

good luck with your decision. I used to drive my 06 GT during the winter. First winter I almost slid into a tree o 1/4ā€ of snow. After that I bought the cheapest rims from tire rack with the best snow tires. Put them on all four wheels and 200 lb of rock salt in trunk ( salt was in 50lb bags). Ran it like that for years between October and following spring. It was a pain swapping between winter and summer tires but the stang did good in snow. Didn’t take it out in blizzards! 😁 but a couple inches were no problem. Hills are a different story.

A salesman at your dealership can do a nation wide search.

Apparently, he doesn’t wanna do that.
Instead, he’s pushing me to the custom order and I donno why.

Get a different guy. I had one do it by me asking over the phone. Its a simple process. Go to a different guy or dealer.

I order mine last week of Dec. 2020 and the salesman told me the same thing of 12 weeks.I took delivery last week of March and this was before any chip shortage. So it was right around 12 weeks.

That I can try for the 2022 model. All I heard is I’m too late for the custom order unless I wanna drive on the snow, which I don’t want.
