That’s not really a selling point to most people. Doesn’t really matter how long it lasts. most people want a new vehicle every3-5 years. And any modern truck should last 150-200k miles now no problem.
I beg to differ on the selling point.. also consider the resale/trade in value. Which the Toyota wins again.

If you like the Trail Boss then why not the ZR2? I really like the Ranger but if you're tall it's a no go.

The Mustang is my wife's daily - I'm a hard core truck guy. Midsize is the Colorado, full size goes to the Ram DT (not the classic).

You think with the majority of buyers that is tops on the list when making a new truck purchase? Toyota, Honda, and Nissan generally has the best reliability rating year in and year out. But Ford, chevy & dodge usually top the best seller list every year. I’m not arguing with you that Toyota has a better resale or reliability. I’m simply saying that doesn’t seam to matter to the average buyer.

I leased mine. So I missed out on some of the rebates. So there prob is more money to be had. And yes, Rangers are very thin on the lots at the moment! Guess availability comes into play with what you end up purchasing as well.
That's kind of driving a part of the decision for me. Rangers are no where to be found. There are a few, but choice is limited and the prices reflect that.

How about a Toyota tundra?
Not a fan of the Toyotas. I don't know why, I just want either a Ford Chevy or Jeep. The Ram just doesn't do it for me. Again, I don't know why. When I look at one and step away, I don't look back at it.

Colorados are almost non existent here, or super expensive. The ZR2 looks great, and I've read some great things about it. I think there's too much rake with the Colorado though.
And I like different. The 'stang is magnetic, which isn't different, but it has the Red Line interior, which is different. I like the atypical look. To a point. The jeep is pushing it, but the wife really likes it, so there's that.

Resale / trade in value are very low on my priority list. I keep me vehicles for quite awhile. Or I'll pass one off to one of my boys. Generally, they're pretty used up by the time it's trade in time.

Well, the Gladiator option looked like it wasn't going to happen. Just couldn't find one for the right price, wit the right options. So I started looking at Tacomas. Oohh, that one looks good, call the dealer, sorry, we can't sell that one, it was in an accident. And all the other ones on are lot are spoken for.

And then, like mana from heaven, not 1, but 2 Jeep dealers, "we can order you one for 5% to 7% below dealer invoice". Hot damn we're back in business!!

Can't wait to see how this process goes. The only down side if it all comes together is that the 'stang will have to split mod money with Jeep. I haven't officially placed an order yet, and I've already got about 4K in mods in various carts across the interweb!

Under powered, shuts off every stop, can be over ridden. BUT must be reset, off everytime you get into drive> everytime .........

Good luck with that, I walked because of the thought of that annoying PIA.
A friend of mine has an F-150. Does the same thing and he hates it. And I've heard the price for a new starter for those is insane.

My wifes Cherokee has it. It's a battery killer for sure. We bought it in July of 16 and we're on our third battery. Not sure about the starter life, but it can't be good.

On the upside though, there is a work around on the Gladiator. Well, there's two. 1. Get it with a manual transmission. 2. There's some sort of switch under the hood that can be bypassed. Or so I've read anyway.

In the ranger I just turn it off before I drive the truck. I know that’s exhausting & exasperating! :curse:But I’m a pretty stout, patient guy.:muscle::muscle::giggle:

I usually remembered. Usually. It was enough of an irritant that it had to go away, I have no such patience for such frippery.

I just saw the GM is cancelling the Auto Start/Stop on some trucks due to the chip shortage.
