Who care... seriously.... different drivers...meaningless
I regularly beat Shelby with my lowly 17 gt... well it’s a bit modified for better handling and a tad more hp/tq and I’m myself quite modified since I have over 30 years of racing experience....

I've beat liter bikes (1000cc) around road course tracks on an R6 (600cc). Experience and skill make the difference.
I have a friend that can beat me around a tight road course on a Ninja 400.

ok, ok missed the point, Racer X. Mach 1 HP, will go down as a very capable car.

If the driver with the GT350 is a track nOoB, and the driver with the other Mustang has a few years of practice, I could imagine an EcoBoost being faster.
There's a guy in my area with a modified EcoBoost that's pretty damn fast. It's lowered, and he drives to track and autocross events on these huge tires. I'm pretty sure he has 19x11 wheels all around. As fast as he is, it's not apparent to the noobs that run in the green group and don't look at lap times later.
It's not that power doesn't matter - or that EcoBoost wouldn't have an intercooler the size of my radiator, and Miatas wouldn't show up with big pipes making angry kazoo sounds - but if there's a big difference between drivers, the guy who uses his power better will win.
This is also why "My car isn't made for that" isn't an excuse, and you shouldn't wait until you can afford your dream car before you go to a track school or race.
Seat time > perfect car.

In my first ever track day in the PP2, I got chased down by a Crown Vic and it eventually passed me. I found out later that the driver of the Vic was an instructor. It's all about the driver.
Since then I have a few more track days under my belt, I want my revenge Mr. Vic! Haha

Same driver in each? No way is the Mach 1 faster than a GT350. With the A10, it might be close, but still not faster.

STEEDA just dynoed a bone stock MACH 1. 409 whp. That's with the 10R80.
GT350 is 462 whp. 50hp difference right there. There's also little doubt a GT350
is much lighter than the MACH 1. Unless somebody can prove otherwise.

Mach 1 is a great automobile. Legacy bones with some real GT350 bits to make it even better. Looks great and performs great - just not at great as the GT350 (by design). Ford has to keep the differentiation the same way the best 718 can be amazing, but always a bit shy of the 911.

ok, ok lets get back to the question? I said I believe a Mach 1 HP can turn a 2:28 at Road America. I've offered some reasons why above.
I've also never seen anyone in a GT350 post a time below 2:28 at RA in stock trim.
Now, in time we'll get an M1/HP, tested but in the mean time.
Take a look at this: (Laguna Seca Track Times)
GT350 is only (1.59 sec) faster then a Mustang GT PP2 .
I'm saying M1/HP will be super close to GT350 if not beat it, call Randy to have him do a test! By the way both M1/HP and GT350 are great cars.
