So my wife was in an accident Tuesday night. It was a 3 car accident. The last driver only has 10k of property damage so I will be using my uninsured motorist policy to cover the repairs. How much damage do y’all think the car has, I’m happy that she didn’t get hurt but I’m sad that her car got hit. She’s not a car person but she takes care of her car. I didn’t take pictures of the 3rd car but I did take pictures of the car that hit her

Probably not totaled. I don’t know how expensive parts for a Lexus are but looks like it needs a new bumper taillights trunk and then repainting the quarter where the trunk rubbed it. But of course it’s hard to say until the bumper comes off and it’s possible to see what’s underneath. It could need a lot of work plus probably sensors for the reverse system and exhaust. Sucks that the 3rd driver didn’t have insurance but the 2nd drivers car should cover yours and then let the 2nds insurance go after the 3rds.

here is a better picture. The gap between the rear door and fender got small on the passenger side

i would check for any noticeable dents in that quarter then. Quarter panels can crumple up in these kinds of accidents. That would be a more expensive repair but I still think not enough to total the car.

I'm guessing $3500+
my neighbor has the same car and when he had a small dent on the trunk, bumper and a broken tail light and the repairs were $2500 and only the tail light was replaced.

if i don't have to replace the tail light, that should cost us about 2k between bumper cover, body and paint... we fixed worst stuff than that on a couple 17 RX350 we had here and it wasn't anything special
not for a Lexus lol. that's an easy 10-12K
lexus is nothing out of the extraordinary... we had a couple 2017 RX350 with more damage than that, and probably spend about $1500 each fixing them... if he doesn't have to replace the tail light, that can be done (and properly done) for about $2000.... but because he is a regular civilian customer, the body shop is gonna go balls deep with the insurance... but that repair is a piece of cake

Uninsured Motorist coverage cannot be used to fix the damage. It only covers your medical bills. Ask me how I know...

The gap getting smaller would indicate unibody damage. But it's really a small hit you won't know what's going on till the bumper cover comes off & you can see what additional damage there is. I would guess there's a possibility of the bumper reinforcement bar having damage &
the rear floor pan having damage. But I'm just guessing after looking at photos on my phone. You really won't know anything till your shop pulls it apart it definitely is not major damage let your shop handle it and that includes talking to the insurance companies. Relax & let your shop handle it. Good luck

both passenger side tails lights are cracked so they need to be replace. One has a crack at the mounting base and the other has a cracked lense. It’s not going to be cheap I tell you

There is rear floor pan damage and the reinforcement bar pushed the trunk latch in doesn’t look good
