I am surprised but Girodisc does not offer rotors and Pagid does not offer pads for the 2020 GT500. What are you guys using for a HPDE track day?

Why do you feel the need to go aftermarket yet? Have you tried the stockers and they failed you (not failed as in didn't work, but failed to meet your expectations)?

Or are you the type that goes straight to the aftermarket regardless of what is on the car stock?

well, my Lamborghini Gallardo stock stuff did NOT do well. the aftermarket stuff did amazingly, so i was going by that.

I will try stock and see how it does, THANKS! I will be installing Castrol SRF no matter what.

Does ford have a recommended burnish orceedure for their factory pads and rotors?

Does ford have a recommended burnish procedure for their factory pads and rotors?
This is from the 2020 GT500 owners manual supplement. Sorry I didn't want to take the time to remove all the paragraph marks.

Brake Burnishing
Your brakes should be properly burnished
prior to heavy track use. Excessive brake
noise may occur after the track burnish or
track use. Perform this procedure in a safe
manner on dry pavement, and in
compliance with all local and state
ordinances and laws regarding motor
vehicle operation.
To burnish your brakes for track use:
• Initial low temperature bedding:
• If your brakes already have 200
miles or more of city driving, skip
this step and go directly to the high
temperature bedding cycle
procedure. Otherwise, perform at
least 30 stops from approximately
50 mph (80 km/h) at 1/3 g
deceleration with 0.75 mi (1.2 km)
spacing between stops. A
deceleration gauge can be
accessed through the TrackApps
menu in your instrument display.
• High temperature bedding cycle:
• Beginning with cool brakes, perform
15 consecutive stops back to back,
accelerating at 3/4 throttle to
80 mph (128 km/h) and braking to
20 mph (32 km/h) at 1.0 g
deceleration. The brakes may omit
an odor or smoke during this part
of the procedure.
• Cool down:
• Cool the brakes down by driving 1-2
laps [5 mi / 8 km] at 60 mph
(96 km/h) with minimal to no
brake usage.
• Recovery low temperature bedding (if
time allows):
• Perform at least 30 stops from
approximately 50 mph (80 km/h)
at 1/3 g deceleration with 0.75 mi
(1.2 km) spacing between stops. A
deceleration gauge can be
accessed through the TrackApps
menu in your instrument display.

This is good stuff. I saw a video on it somewhere. Can't imagine where I'd be able to do 30 stops from 50mph - besides it would probably be 2 tanks of gas to get there.

Not at all saying that I'm the expert but this is a pretty serious bedding process. When tracking do a couple laps pretty easy then you should be good.

Just finished a two day event at Road Atlanta. I used GLOC R16 front and R10 rear pads. I also flushed brake fluid with Castrol SRF. First session was not great as there was a bit of air in the lines. Bled the brakes and they were much better. Frankly I was quite surprised how well the brakes worked. I was able to brake later than I expected going into 10a at 153mph.

I find the brakes far superior to the 350r.

That is a very good point, when bleeding brakes on the GT500. How do you get the old fluid/air out of the ABS/traction control system? On my Z07 I bought a GM MDI interface unit that allows me to tell the car to engage the ABS pump to flush the fluids out of the system. Also, my Gallardo is hooked into a Lamborghini computer to engage the ABS pump. Does ford have a similar system?

Great feedback. RA is a great track and my Boss 302 ate it up after I figured it out. Super encouraging to know the braking is better than the 350R. I do a complete brake fluid swap in the spring every year, then bleed the brakes before every event. Knock on wood I've never had air in the lines.

I've got an extra set of OEM pads for the GT500 and will order from Carbon Friction a set of pads when these are gone.

I ran the GLOC 12's and 10's on C7 Z06 and they were really good pads. Watkins is my local track and it's HARD on pads - and the GLOC lasted longer than about anything I tried for the money. Super happy to know that's a full on legit option ofr this car when the time comes... which will be about as soon as I can get the damn thing :)

@Richard Shannon - the C7 had the same "issue" but never worried - I used a Motive pressure bleeder and changed my brake flud proablly 10 times with that car - and never once had any air in the lines. super easy.

I haven’t done it yet on the 2020, but if you keep a fresh supply of fluid going in the reservoir while bleeding the brakes, you won’t end up with air in your ABS system, which is bad.

I have a Motive brake bleeder I’ve used on some of my other vehicles... works well!

I have a Motive brake bleeder I’ve used on some of my other vehicles... works well!
Same here. The Motive power bleeder worked great on my 2014. Haven't used it yet on my 2020.
