I have an ingot silver mustang and sometimes when I look at the bonnet it appears to have a slight Misty look to it then at other times it looks fine. My other half reckons I am seeing things! Maybe it’s just in certain light conditions plus my eyesight isn’t what it was!

ive read about paintwork issues but has anyone experienced anything similar. It’s a waste of time attaching a picture as it won’t capture what I think I’m seeing.

Have you waxed it in non optimal conditions ?

Application in high temps, or low temps with high humidity can give rise to cloudiness (even in patches on the same panel) as can uneven application of products. I had a purple BMW and that seemed particularly susceptible to it.

First thing I would try is a good prep / polish / wax in optimal conditions and see if you still see your issue :like:

I've seen what I would describe as a "shadow in the paint layer" on my bonnet before. Very odd, and if I remember correctly, this was on occasions where I washed the car and the sunlight started to go as I was finishing - along with the temp dropping.

Never really figured it out, but I'd imagine it's got something to do with either water etching (sometimes I have no choice but to wash in harsh direct sunlight), or it's related to whatever sealants/waxes I've applied, combined with a shard drop in temps.

Sadly, ideal conditions are hard to come by when it comes to pampering the car with some protective products!

You may have some luck with a good ol polish and some decent sealant - applied in good weather of course!
