Thanks man!

I didn't realize it at the time of this video but the lap time fall off of the stock CFTP cup 2's is quite significant after only a couple heat cycles. The gt500 already had about 10 heat cycles on them which I later discovered the tires were a solid 3+ seconds slow. A couple weeks after this video I swapped the tires and was able to run a 2:10.02. Since then I've got the car down to a 2:07.6 with a few bolt on mods and Hoosiers. That was good for 3rd pace overall at TT Nationals out of 230 cars, and is offically the fastest any Mustang has ever lapped NCM, and as far as we can tell that includes Camaro too.
The 350R and CFTP Cup2s are awesome/grippy tires but it does come at a price. The 3 secs delta is not surprising, as across platforms the CUP2s exhibit similar heat cycling deterioration (although on the mustangs it seems to happen faster).

I wonder how R888Rs would hold up compared to the cup2s

Your title is a bit misleading. I though this was a comparison with a Mustang GT4 race car. Your 350R isnā€™t even a early Multimatic built race car. Those current cars engine has a CPC not a FPC. They tried the FPC for one year in the 350R race car and the vibration issues in the FPC engine and components were to expensive for the private teams to put up with. This is your idea of a so called race car. So you come on a GT500 forum and praise the 350R. What would you expect would happen with the responses. I owned both and traded in the R for a GT500. No comparison on the street where I spend 90% of my time. The 350R has no low end grunt itā€™s dead under 4000 rpm. No body home under 4000 rpm. Some people like the sound of the R. Itā€™s obnoxious as hell without the resonators. Just another loud mustang on the street. Lets see how the longevity is on the 350 engine. Iā€™d take the GT 500 any day over the low on power Shelby 350. Put Randy Pobst in those two cars and then come back and post it. The Porsche GT3 RS with him driving was a virtue tie with the track pack GT500. No way could a 350R keep pace with that Porsche.

How is it misleading? It clearly states in the title GT350R, not a Mustang GT4. As for the rest of your post, do you track your car? Who gives a shit how it drives on the street if its purpose is to be a track car.

Because the early Multimatic race cars were called GT 350R. This isnā€™t one. Because most people will drive these on the street. They do give a crap. Do you really think all 30,000 GT 350 owners track their cars ? Have you owned a 350R or base or a GT500 ? Just curious šŸ§
This forum is starting to deteriorate and Iā€™m moving on.

You come off as very insecure - to the point where you question the title of the thread because you don't agree with some portion (not sure which?!) of the content. Maybe you should come up with your own creative content? Until then (and probably even after that), you are irrelevant.

Well I'm hurt. I thought you were moving on, as you said. Really wish you'd keep your word. BYE!

And to the original spirit of this thread - Still appreciate the effort and insight. Some things are subjective but as I said - not many people who have any track experience don't already know what to expect or expect a zero-cost experience when tracking any of these cars.

The 350R and the 500 are not DDs
There are plenty of people that daily drive them both the R and the 500. Whatā€™s wrong with daily driving the car?
I have to go to the side of you CAN DD an R.
no dog in this fight, fun thread to read for sure...but I am DDā€˜ing a 350r, and absolutely love it. I have put just a hair over 5,000 miles on her since Halloween

currently selling my old DD, a full bolt on Focus ST...and the F150 is covered in dust from not being driven anymore :)

It was called the GTR350R-C, not the GT350R. It is so obscure that I am sure no one is confusing it with OP's car. Do you even track your car? Do you time yourself on the road course?
