Now that is very reassuring and extremely helpful information.
If only a leather interior option, sirius satellite radio and automatic A/C were available to us in the V-6, Ford would have a real winner in my book.
I just would be thrilled to have the Sirius Satellite Radio as an available Option. Even a 13K stripped down Kia or Hyundai comes standard with Sirius Radio! A 32K plus 2015 Base V6 Mustang Convertible, N.A.! WTF?

I've seen theory's that with both using regular gas the v6 would be faster, sorry if this is a dumb question but want happens when the 6 is using 93?

Thanks,

A slight power boost  The v6 has an adaptive spark knock sensory setup, if you use premium it will advance spark timing until it senses spark knock which results in slightly more power. But to make full use of premium fuel, a custom tune for 93 is a vast improvement over just using higher octane fuel alone on stock tune.

I`m assuming that Canadian 2015 Mustangs in Base V6 configuration come standard with the Sirius Satellite Radio, correct? In 2011, even the Ford Fiesta Base Radio came with Sirius as standard equipment for Canada, not so for U.S.? Canadian V6 Base Mustangs get standard Fog Lamps since they are used there for DRL`s. In the U.S., one must order the upgraded equipment package 051A to get the Fog Lamps.

Really? How much does the 641 option cost for EB?

I thought a V6 manual with 051A is about $500 cheaper than a base EB manual. With 641, EB must cost even more.
Base V6 ......................... $23600 / $22243 MSRP / Inv
051A Pkg (incl 641 whls) ... $ 995 / $888
Delivery ......................... $ 825 / $825
Total ............................. $25420 / $23956

vs.

Base EB ........................ $25170 / $23472
641 18" Wheels .............. $ 155 / $139
Delivery ........................ $ 825 / $825
Total ............................ $26150 / $24436

Difference of ................. $ 730 / $480

I always work my car deals as $100 over invoice, so the Invoice cost difference is all I'm ever concerned about.

Base EB includes all features of Base V6 w/ 051A except the 18" Wheels (also has nicer ... IMO ... upholstery, a 6-Way Power Passenger Seat, and nicer Diamond Mesh Aluminum Dash trim that the V6 does not have) ... well worth it for only $480 more.

Doug,

Glad you like the i4, but respectfully as I and others have expressed in many post we are not interested. Let me recap my reasons.

1, i4 is made in Spain, v6 made in Cleveland.

2, I've been hearing nothing but pie crust promises turbo since the 80's, I hope the new era works out to be great for you and everyone else. Personally I don't know anyone that kept a turbo for 5 years. With it being below zero is too often where I live, with low of 23 below zero might be why turbos don't last around here.

More I think about I'd pay extra for the v6.

I'm not SOLD on the EB yet ... my point was the added value you get for only $480 more (vs. base V6 to base EB which is a $1229 difference in invoice).

I absolutely love my 2011 3.7L V6 and will get another V6 if the EB does not live up to all the hype.

The stock exhaust on my V6 sounds really good, and I feel this will be the biggest disappointment for me with the EB. If the EB gets significantly better MPG's in the real world and has better low-end grunt, I may just be able to deal with the EB exhaust note.

Never owned a Turbo car, and am not all that thrilled about all the added complexity that comes with it ... I normally keep my cars 6 years / 125-130k miles, so this concerns me a little too.

I'm not ordering a car until Spring 2015 or 2016, so I've got plenty of time to test drive both and absorb all owners reviews of both V6 & EB.

As far as the engine being made in Spain ... get over it !! The manual transmissions have been made in China since 2011 ... this bothers me more, but did not keep me from getting a M/T and will not keep me from getting one on my S550.

Twin turbo car with D/I here and I'm coming up to 7 years in exactly two days at approx ~125-130k miles. Only hiccups I've dealt with have been fuel pump related. I had the trans replaced at the 100k point because the torque converter turned into spaghetti, but the engine has been a tank. I wouldn't swear off on turbos based on principle.

Doug,

Thanks for your insights on your v6 and everything else too. As far as getting over it, it might be too late for me, I'm old enough to feel quite woven in to my family roots of foundry, and shop workers not to get an America engine when I still can. To honor them I try..

I'm guessing there are a lot more turbos in Florida, than up here. It's encouraging to see you have done well with them. I'll keep and open mind and keep an eye on this generation of turbos for our next car. The 2.3 is moving to Cleveland:)

Thank you,

Will the Texas (or wherever the hell else its hot) heat effect anything on the turbo 4? Mileage, performance, etc.?

Like others have stated, Ford wants to phase out the V6, for whatever odd reason. I personally have owned a turbo vehicle, with a small motor, and it's all hype. You can make good power gains with tunes, and bolt ons, but Ford made a huge mistake only using a small 2.3 liter motor, in such a heavy car. The EB would have way more potential with a larger displacement motor. My turbo car was an 2009 Cobalt SS turbo, which weighed in at 3001 lbs. It was quick, got around 30 MPGs or more, and made awesome power when tuned. But that car was way more nimble and over 500 lbs lighter. Ford added .3 liters, but also around 50-100 lbs to the Mustang. We can even use the Focus ST as an example. That car, for the price isn't impressive at all. It weighs 3,300+ lbs, uses a smaller turbo than my Cobalt from 2009, is slower, and gets worse gas milage. Ford has the right idea with turbo motors, but adding weight to their vehicles is the downfall.

I was really impressed with the last V6, and Ford toned it down on purpose, so it wouldn't embarrass it's baby (the ecoboost) And below shows why.

2013 Ford Mustang V6 Premium

Displacement: 227 cu in, 3726 cc
Power: 305 hp @ 6500 rpm
Torque: 280 lb-ft @ 4250 rpm

Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.91 g

FUEL ECONOMY:
EPA city/highway driving: 19/29 mpg

The Ecoboost weighs more, and has to add extra HP and Torque to get similar numbers. As shown below.

Displacement: 138 cu in, 2261 cc
Power: 310 hp @ 5500 rpm
Torque: 320 lb-ft @ 3000 rpm

Top speed (governor limited): 149 mph
Braking, 70-0 mph: 150 ft

Can someone correct me on something. I was under the impression that the low 5.1/5.2 0-60 times on the old V6 cars was with the performance pack, now the 29 mpg number is based on the car with 2.73 rear gears. and I've read the cars with the PP are more in the 26mpg range.

so quoting both numbers in one spec is misleading, since really they're two separate cars.
yes, If i could've gotten a premium V6 with the PP this time I would have anyways, but if I can get V6 PP performance with V6 base fuel economy, at least that's some compensation.

The small price increase going from a Base V6 Fastback/Coupe to the Base EB 2.3 I4 is not much of a reach (but) if a Convertible is on your List, how about adding 6K to 7K extra going from a Base V6 Ragtop to a Premium EB 2.3 Convert?
