My first post.
So my 2016 Mustang GT has been making this clicking/Tapping noise. It’s super consistent at first start up then it’s intermittent after that. It almost sounds like it’s coming from near the front of the engine around the timing chains. I noticed the noise after a oil change around 4,500 miles ago. The car is tuned & catback that’s it.

Here a video of the noise. The noise seems louder on camera fyi

That's a really weird noise; first time I hear it. Consider yourself lucky it wasn't the dreaded 'tick', which sounds like piston slap or rod knock. Sounds like something plastic to me. Who changed the oil???

i did all the oil changes, I just did another oil change yesterday and still makes the noise. Can’t figure it out. I thought the belt was hitting something but nope checked that’s it’s good.

The car runs great, doesn’t throw any codes. Also It has a 100k mile warranty but I don’t want them to say something about the tune

Unfortunately other than confirming it's not normal (you, of course already know that) I do not know what that is.

I'm posting because you may have an issue with your tune. Unless your dealer is tune friendly they will most likely refuse any warranty claim on your engine. And that's just on the basic 3/36. Forget about your extended warranty. Tunes are strictly forbidden. All this being said you still need to get it in and have it looked at. You will want to put back the stock tune just in case they don't look (they will).

Get a $10 scope from Harbor Freight and see if you can pinpoint the noise, heads or accessories in the front or bottom end

Fram is the snake oil of oil filters. I used one on my truck once when I was a teenager and knew jack shit about maintenance, as soon as I started it, it collapsed internally and started pissing oil everywhere. Luckily I shut it down immediately but yeah, they're trash. I only use OEM brand filters after that.

FRAM of new isn't FRAM of old. They're better than the motorcraft filters, especially the ultra. Motorcraft filters have some documented proof of having the filter media tear. Just head on over to bitog and have a looksy.

So how did you fix it. What caused it to tap like that?
I didn’t fix it yet, ran out of daylight. I found other forums with this issue and some say to replace the throttle body & some say it’s the evap purge valve. I’m gonna do some more research and I’ll post what I end of doing. I’m just happy it’s not a internal tap.
