Upon reading the owners manual it states my fog lights should be able to turn on in any position except off, well my lights have always been on auto pushing the fog lights don’t work... can anyone confirm if this is normal?

I'm not quite sure what you're asking, but my lights are set to 'auto', and the fogs are set to come on with them. I have high beams set to 'auto' and the only time the fogs go off is when the brights are on.

It's worded poorly. Yes you can turn the fogs on when your headlights are in auto, but only when they are turned on automatically in auto mode. In other words, your lights need to be on in one way or another for you to be able to turn the fogs on.

yea that’s what I was asking. So if it’s in auto and the headlights are not on then the fog lights won’t turn on.

Fog lights are not remembered from the factory, so if you turn them on, they'll be off next ignition cycle. You can change that with FORScan, as well as them turning on with high-beams as well (which I did). If they're not turning on with auto lamps, make sure they're not in high-beam. They should turn on otherwise (parking lights or low-beams).

read what I posted above. They don’t. Turn on even when auto if headlights are not on that I didn’t know.

Was just posting the possible options for not turning on. If they don't, your car has a problem, and no idea what it is. Depending if they turned on at some point, you might start with testing the LED bulbs themselves, and enjoy the troubleshooting :D. Good luck.

LEDs work fine. They don’t work if the headlights are not on and you’re in Auto mode as state above try it and you’ll see what I’m saying.

Well that’s disappointing. I wonder if the Ford engineers who designed the fog light controls understand the purpose of fog lights? My morning commute often required me to drive in fog so thick that I couldn’t see the edge of the road. I chose yellow fog lights with a wide flat beam that favored the right side of the road. I mounted them as low as possible and wired them so I could use them without headlights. Headlights only lit up the fog in front of me, making it impossible to see the road ahead. My fog lights allowed me to creep along the right side of the road until I got below the fog and could use my headlights again. My fog lights were also handy night driving through the big hypnotic snowflakes that your headlights make worse. I hope I don’t have to drill a hole through the dash for a fog light toggle switch.

I was installing a set of fog lights on a RAV4 and it was required that the fog lights only operate when the low beam was also on. You could not have the fog on alone. I am not sure, nor can I find it, if fog light operation is required by some law someplace (check NY or California especially) to be limited in this fashion. I believe the Mustang fog lights operate in this same fashion - only being able to be turned on when the low beam lights are actively emitting light.
