Hey Everyone,

Just picked up a new set of rims and now I need some tires to go with them. I went through a bunch of threads and just couldn't find the answer I was looking for. I used a bunch of calculators but to be honest I don't know enough wheels and tires to really make an informed decision.

Wheel Specs
Front:
Size: 19x10
Backspace: 6.88"
Offset: +35mm
Weight: 24.4lbs

Rear:
Size: 19x11
Backspace: 7.97"
Offset: +50mm
Weight: 24.5lbs

I don't necessarily want the wheels to poke out beyond the fender, but sitting close or slightly in would be ideal. Based on the tires I am looking at (Firehawk Indy 500) I don't have to many options but hoping for some helpful suggestions before pulling the trigger.

Front: 265/40 or 275/40 or 275/35
Rear: 275/40 or 285/35 or 325/30

Ideally they are going to be daily driven with a few track days and maybe a pass or two at a drag strip. Daily driving will be the primary purpose.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions. Hoping to order the tires ASAP so I can get them on the rims.

It's not sexy but I have stock GT350 wheels and tires and they work great... 295/35-19 front and 305/35-19 rear. Front wheels are 19 x 10.5 ET30, rear 19 x 11 ET62. The fronts tend to tramline a little too much for my tastes so when it's time to replace them I'll be going with 285/35-19 fronts and keep the same 305 rears. As I understand it, wide fronts are important because our cars tend to understeer, and the wide fronts help make the car more neutral; however, they also make it more annoying to drive when you don't feel like pushing it.

When I first got mine I thought something was wrong because it was all over the road. I've heard some anecdotal stories claiming that the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S do a good job of combating the tramlining, but I always thought that it was simply a consequence of the wider footprint. Given all of the other good things I've heard about these I'll probably buy a set once the Goodyear all-seasons need replacing.

Thank you for the information. That is helpful but all I seem to be figuring is out is my the Firehawk's won't work for my rim choices. I can't seem to find a rear that is large enough. Otherwise it will be very similar to the front. I am not sure if that is a problem from a driving perspective.

Why not look at MP4S? You can get 305/30R19 which is a better fit to a 19x11 than the 325 Indy would be.

FYI, wider tires will tramline more not less. So the wider "footprint" wouldn't help at fighting tramlining.

I’ve considered it. Mostly due to the crazy cost here in Canada.

Would the 325 work on not so much?

The 325 Indy is a tiny bit on the larger side for 11" wheel but it's okay. Just not an ideal fit persay.

Is there any risk there? I would hate to have a blowout on a track day or any other issues.

On an 11" wheel there's no safety risk. The handling will be a little sloppier and breakaway less gradual.

Hmm, that doesn’t sound great. I’ll have to give it some thought. Maybe I’ll go smaller.

Is it an option to get 19x10 for the rear as well? If so, the ideal setup would be 285/35 on 19x10 at all corners. Great fit, handling and rotatable. The 10/11 setup on track will introduce more understeer to the car and based on the tire selection available for the Indy... looks like there would have to be some compromise for the rear tire fitment for the 19x11.

Unfortunately not. The set is staggered right now. I could look into that for the future but it’s not feasible right now.

I may just have to suck it up and go 305 in another brand if I can’t get the Indy. It’s too bad they don’t make it in 305. That way I can run 275 up front and 305 in the rear which seems to be ideal from what I can tell.
