Hello guys, I recently upgraded my car to 2017 GT 5.0 and I decided to have a Shelby bumper and side fenders installed. i have contacted couple of people who make custom emblems and grille badges but I have trouble figuring out how to remove the original Shelby badge from the grille. Does anyone have any idea how that is done? Or how it’ll look like after the removal? Any pictures or instructional videos? Also any recommendations of companies or people who make custom badges and emblems all together because I want everything to match. Appreciate all the help

Run by a small local body shop and they may tell you. Bring donuts.

Seriously, go to the internet or ask friends of a local friendly body shop, stop by midday mid week when no one is picking up their cars and the guys are already working on jobs and ask them. Bring donuts and be nice and you might get your question answered and make a friend in the process.

It’s tedious but not hard to do with no damage. The grille is layered into a honeycomb and a smooth rectangular plate. The badge has three studs and passes through the honeycomb but in front of the smooth section, so you have to separate. There are three metal speed nuts holding the badge on. To separate the layers, there are a crapload of metal alligator blade/clips.

Your call on whether it’s worth doing. Generally I’d say no. I found the R grille for cheap and replaced the aero plate but wanted the much better looking silver badge, as well as a tow hook cut out.

Its called wanna be. You can try to cosmetically look like a Shelby GT 350 but it ain't gonna perform like one or be one!

If you are going to go all in on the fake GT350, you need to change the wheels and add the rear spoiler to match. Toss a couple of look-a-like OTP stripes on it and most people will not be the wiser until you step on the gas... The sound of the 5.0 is very different than the sound of the 5.2, so you might have to change your exhaust to fool even more people.

It's a mustang. They're all Mustangs. They come off the same line and follow a parts build list. If he prefers to put a GT350, 500 package fender or a bullitt package fender that the line didn't designate for his particular mustang who cares. I don't agree with it either, but he didn't come here looking for approval he or she came here looking for help customizing his or her car like many folks do.

There’s a guy with a GT350 at the car meet I go to that tried to make his car look like a GT350R! He changed the rear spoiler (doesn’t look correct with covers over the original bolt holes from the original spoiler), painted the badges red, painted the calipers red and still has original GT350 rims and front splitter on it. He says he’s not trying to fool anyone, he likes that look better. He’s happy with his car. NOT something I would do but who am I to judge him because he doesn’t do things my way. His car, his money, ya I think it’s a little silly when at a glance you can tell it’s not a real “R” (if you’re into Shelby’s like we are) but he is a happy, friendly funny guy. I’m obsessed with keeping my paint spotless and glowing, he thinks I’m crazy! We are all car crazy in one way or another.

Say what yas want but I think any one that tries to make a car look like its another type that it isn't is either trying to impress some one or make themselves believe they've got something that they really don't have. I just laugh and shake my head when I see a car done that way.

Here's the big secret in 2020. No one really cares. Sadly I think today you'd get more attention in a modified Prius.
