So I've been dealing with a local shop that installed my Paxton supercharger and bolt-ons for almost a year now. just recently got the car back and still ran like crap ( running rich, misfiring and surging) so I decided to fix the problem myself. Replaced BOV with a Tial 50mm and spark plugs with NGK 6510 gapped .028 ( he used motorcraft cyfs-092ypt)...Bingo!! idle and low throttle issues nearly gone and car seems to drive much better. After running the car I pulled the plugs and they are white, much different then the previous black fouled plugs. AFR on digital dash and SCT show 14 @ idle and cruise, and down to 9-10 when building boost. Head temp stays around 190-210 degrees when warmed up. Why would the plugs be white with a normal AFR ? I'm going to take my car over to Palm Beach Dyno after i get Fore fuel system and 18 manifold installed but want to make sure I have the right plugs in before making the trip.

6510s are the same plugs I run. Your tunes off now. Your running lean. If plugs are white. Those pligs in the pic. Don't look bad to me.

That's exactly what I was thinking.. I was just concerned that my AFR is showing the car running in normal AFR range, so what's to stop the new tune from running the car lean? First time I pulled the plugs was after letting car idle with an afr of 13.8-14 . only time it exceeds 14 is on decel. I have no doubt that the tune is way off from using the wrong plugs, but is there more to plug color then just the air/fuel?

Thanks for the help Bluebeastsrt. If those plugs don't look bad then I think I'm on the right path to getting this build ready to tune. Other than the benefit of getting the tune completed the same day, is it worth trailering the car 7 hours round trip plus the added costs to have it dyno'd vs remote tune?

Just get a mail tune from lund or pbd. They'll tune you at idle. Then to 4000rpms. To get you dialed in. Before they do a pull to 6000rpms. Its a very safe process. Provided you have a long straight road. With no traffic. To do your pulls on.
