Never heard of roll racing till Stangmode's video. Is this new or just a new name for something older?

Not exactly. Its a roll race starting around 60 mph. And comes off of the entering corner of the straightaway. Both cars are lined up next to each other entering and exiting the corner. Race starts at a pre setup start line around 60mph. Then the race goes the length of the straightaway.

Thank you. Was figuring its a way to simulate freeway races but on a track. Sounds fun! Although you are missing out on first and most of second gear. Start at the top of 2nd and spend most the race in 3rd. Less skill involved for sure IMO.

Definitely sounds fun! Plus it's alot cheaper than a street racing fine or speeding ticket doing triple digits! I'm not skilled enough to get paid to race so it's all about fun for me!

Do you wanna see who has the faster car or the faster driver? Pretty Simple IMO.

Drag racing is mainly hard on the drivetrain from the initial start. Roll racing is hard on the motor on the top end. Each gear gets harder on the rods. Imagine your legs are rods on a 19 speed bike. You're putting out the same power when in the lower gears but the higher in the gears you get the harder the toll takes on the rods or your legs to continue to push.

Since more and more people are using automatics now, and they are proving to be faster, can you really call it driver skill when using an auto? I mean, if you set the car up well, it's basically just mashing a pedal and going. Don't have to worry about slipping the clutch, bogging the launch, missing a gear, banging off the Rev limiter, etc. Am I missing something here? Serious question since I've never drag raced an auto.
