I am wondering if maybe the trans moving at all is causing some kind of binding up somewhere or somehow. Maybe reducing the movement of the trans may help. Considering everything I've tried so far, I'm kinda trying to think outside the box. It's just really strange to me that sometimes it goes...
I have been fighting gremlins with my trans/shifting for a while now. So far, I've had my trans rebuilt by Ben calimer with a stage 2, installed 2 different twin disk clutches (spec and lpxhd), new TOB that was bench bled, MGW shifter (x-spec, iirc) braided ss clutch line and swapped out the...
Maybe I'll look into a new assembly in the future, but at this point I don't think it's the issue. I have no idea why it cracked, however there are some threads about cracking pedals on here. Only thing I can think of for it cracking is heavier clutch and steeda spring is to much for the pot...
I vaguely remember something about this. I had a lot going on when we put the clutch in so maybe I forgot about it. Maybe it was just that I made sure not to drop/lose any of the washers. Looks like the trans is going to need to come out regardless at this point. How did you check your clearences?
No I didn't shim anything. Didn't know I had to. Directions to install the clutch didn't mention anything about it that I can remember, and I know it didn't come with any shims. I'm gonna have to look more into this. What did you use to shim? Any write up on how to do it? Thanks for your input!
No offense taken. No, I don't think it's my driving style, as it did it from when I put the clutch back in. I rarely get on the throttle to these days. Guess I'm getting old.
I'm hoping you guys can help me out and or point me in the right direction. This is gonna be long but I want to be as detailed as possible. Back in June of 2020 I hurt my MT82 during a high rpm shift. Not sure what I broke, but 5th gear wasn't usable. I sent the transmission to Ben Calimer to...
I can't speak for sheep dog, but I can speak for myself now since I had that clutch for several thousand miles and I didn't like it. Clutch pedal was light, but engagement was way to rough, it was a light switch. That said, the guy I sold it to seemed happy with it, but for all I know he's just...
Have a spec twin disk that has seen 4-5k miles of use. No strip, just street with an occasional pull here and there. Appears to be in good condition, pads still look to be in great shape with lots of life left, tried showing as much as I could in the pics but if you want any other pictures let...
Yeah, I'm reading about it now. Mine doesn't make any noise, but it doesn't always seem to engage the clutch switch which is what i was looking for and the whole reason I even noticed the spring. I figured the switch was going bad, not the pedal breaking. It's a bitch to get under there.
Thanks for the reply. Could that also cause a feeling of binding when releasing the clutch pedal? Doesn't happen all the time, but sometimes I feel like something has to move over a little lip or something before it springs back out when I release the pedal.
So I looked under the dash to inspect my clutch safety switch and I saw that this spring seems to be off its perch. I tried pushing it back on but it won't stay. Is there supposed to be something that keeps it locked in place? What happens if I pull the spring completely off? Any help would be...
Well, so far the new clutch at TOB seem to be doing the trick. Since I'm still breaking it in I don't know how it will do at high rpms, but engagement seems a lot smoother and shifting feel seems improved. I wish I could say it was the clutch or the slave, but whatever it was appears to be gone.
