I'm paying $700 for for stripes way nicer than what is offered. You guys need a reality check - lol.
Vinyl is cheaper. Aftermarket vinyl will have more colors, width, styles than a factory will offer for painted stripes. Of course if you paint them after you buy the car that flips and you have infinitely MORE options with paint than Vinyl.

Painted stripes don't have special care needs. Wash, coat, etc. exactly like the rest of the car. Painted stripes won't get ruined because someone put the wrong wax on it. Paint is more impervious to environmental damage. You rock chip, bug/bird/other stain it or mar the vinyl and you live with it or replace the entire piece. Paint you can touch up. And if you do have to replace a piece of vinyl the replacement might not match the original.

Everyone can say what any of that is worth to them as an individual but I think its way out on on the fringes for someone to think vinyl is better than painted if you take cost out of the equation.

2016 Shelby GT350, 2017 Ford Focus ST, On Order 2020 CTFP Shelby GT 500 with POTTS. Car is released and awaiting shipment. I am running out of time before having to leave for Japan on July 29th.
I tried to order the painted stripes but was denied. I had to get the vinyl stripes. I ordered my GT 500 in Iconic Silver and think the stripes with the black roof will look nice. I told Ford to shut up and take my money but they refused it and threw $10K back at me. I am keeping my GT350 and will keep the GT500 as long as I can. I am not looking at them as investment cars but cars are an expensiver hobby for me. Nice cars make me happy.

You pay for what you get !!! I figure 100.00 per worker per hour is the ~ rate. There has to be a body person out there
that can approximate the time and materials. 2000.00 materials ??? 20 hrs at 2-3 people ??? Personally if I want to pay it its
my business, but envy is one of the 7 deadlies.

P.S. I miss all the cool Ford emojis.

I personally think 10k is ludicrous.. But if I could afford a gt500 in the first place I would get them too..

If you care about the future value of the car add on stripes vinyl or painted will lessen the value of the car. Besides that if I was buying the car and had and extra 10k yes I would get them.
Just to help put the $10,000 OTT stripes for a new GT500 in perspective I have attached a few pictures of a 2006 Ford GT that I enjoyed for the better part of a weekend a few years back and take note of the pricing for the painted OTT stripes for a car that was built at the old Wixom, Michigan assembly plant some 14 years ago.

Wixom is a very old Ford plant and assembled a lot of Lincolns and Thunderbirds over the years.

Yes a totally different car along with different prep work but suggest that the $13,000 cost back then for painted OTT stripes would be significantly higher nowadays therefore I suggest that the $10,000 for a new GT500 may be a little on the high side but not stupid crazy like some are suggesting.

Had a lot of fun with Chassis #337 that weekend and it was a lot faster than I thought!

Agreed and of course being an old guy I really don't get wide body cars.

Of those 343 Heritage Edition 2006 Ford GT's with the Gulf Oil colors from the winning times in the 60's still command the most money for all 2005/2006 cars.

That car had ~620 miles on it when I had it out and would sell for between $400,000 and $500,000 today.

No hard feelings. Don't misunderstand my shock for envy.
I can piss away 10k without sacrifice any day I choose. But I would not be one to pay 10k for a stripes. That's silly.
This is just my opinion. Now, If it makes you feel good - do it. It's your money or it was :giggle:
And if you do, post pics - I'd like to see $500- $1000 a ft stripe(s).

Ah, to be young and poor again.

It's all relative, man. Someone ordering $10K stripes on a $100K car is probably like you buying Pep Boys floor mats for your Ecoboost.

Ever drank a $1000 bottle of wine? Ever bought a $35,000 watch? It happens every second of every day.

Some folks have so much money they literally fart $10K. No reason to be a butthead.

That is a beautiful car, and one of my favorite colours. I had Ford GT scaled car in that colour on my old AMX race track I had setup. Love electric slot racing when I was younger.

Honestly...I do not understand posts like these. Ok. Your stature is that you can basically piss on 10k and toss it for fire kindle. Great. Then why speak on how other people who have 10k spend it. I can guarantee that if we could look at your fiance spending, you have spent money on something that someone else thought was not a intelligent way to spend it. So why even talk about it ? Then go with "oh I can do X X X X" who cares ? I mean really ? Bollocks.

Semi rant over.

He goes on like that because he doesn't have that kind of money and is mad at those who do.

I believe him and can prove it. I'm offering to let him PayPal $10k to me and I will possibly send it back. I have to say possibly or it would only prove he had $10k not that $10k was meaningless to him. Got your back @Rover

Lest anyone think I'm playing favorites. I make the same offer to any M6G member.
