Still doesn't prove the oil and filter were used on the Mustang. No, thanks. I'll take a receipt from an ASE-certified shop.

If you want something done right. Do it yourself.

I'm coming up on 3,000 miles and my oil life indicator is showing 57%. Fully intend to chang my own and make sure it gets done right. Will probably wait till 40% and go with 5w-30 mobil 1. Also want to send a sample out to Blackstone to have it analyzed. might as well, I already have a kit laying around the shop.

Sheet of cardboard and ramps. It's not too awful.

Not saying it’s a big project, it’s just not one I care to do anymore. BTW, I grew up in a Gulf Service station and was doing oil and filter changes when I was 8 years old. My Dad was a Gulf dealer for 30 years.

I guess you have done more than your fair share of oil changes!

We recently moved to another state and I sure miss my local oil change guy that we used for the last 25 years. Never had to worry about making sure the job was done correctly. For now, I will just let the dealer we purchased the Mustang from do the service. Heck, we will probably trade it off in a couple of years anyway. My wife misses her truck we traded in on the stang so I can see the hand writing all ready. We will be back in a truck or some sort of SUV. The upside will be I will no longer worry about keeping an immaculately clean car or parking to prevent door dings. I just can’t get excited over trucks, SUVs or econo boxes.

I hear ya. I've thought the same thing, but it's good these aren't a nightmare as some I've seen/done.

Are y'all a one-car family?

Mistakes are a part of life. One of our members did there own oil change and forget to fill the engine with oil. When they towed the car to Ford with no oil and no dipstick, guess who got stuck paying for a new engine, hint, it wasn't Ford.

I use the dealer because the price of the oil + filter is about 20 bucks cheaper than if they did it. Last weekend, needed it done in a pinch, so took my chances instead of using the private shop.

I no longer do it myself, last time I did it, had 7 qtz in the street an 3 in the pan!!

Yes and that was the Gulf Crest pump. Back then we had 3 grades.

Good Gulf = Regular leaded around 92 octane
No Nox = Premium leaded around 98 octane
Gulf Crest = Super Premium around 103 octane ( in the early 60’s Gulf Crest was replaced with a low lead, then eventually unleaded fuel with much lower octane rating called Gultane )
