So my personal exhaust journey has come to an end! After many variations I am finally 100% satisfied with it. Like most I started with an h-pipe resonator delete. Wasn’t enough. Then a cat back. Droned... added some custom j-bends, helped drone big time. Then went catless with some vibrants. Sounded awesome, but annoying on road trips.
My next plan was potentially putting the stock mufflers back, and putting in cutout dumps. Was gonna be a pain, and expensive. Finally one day off FB marketplace scored a complete 5th gen Camaro ZL1 stock exhaust for a screaming deal.
Got home and immediately chopped it up for fit testing.
Now on a 5tth gen the active valves are vacuum actuated, and on the Camaros have a pretty elaborate controller system.
I simplified it...
Teed off my boost sensor vacuum line in the passenger kick panel, to a check valve,

then to an egr solenoid.

The egr solenoid is engaged/disengaged via remote wireless key fob switch.

Then I programmed the homelink buttons in the visor to use instead of the cheesy fobs!
A quick test drive confirms. Civil when you want it, no drone on the highway, and screaming bald eagles when you want it.
Now what you’ve all been waiting for is some sound clips. Short but sweet, and as is with ALL sound clips a phone recording doesn’t do it justice, and only listen on a desktop with good speakers, good headphones, or via Bluetooth in your stang!
