I have a 2016 V6 with 7000 miles on it, and lately I've been hearing a weird grinding noise coming from the engine bay at 3k+ rpm. It kinda sounds like what a washing machine would sound when it's accelerating/decelerating. In other words the more I go high into the rpm's the higher the pitch becomes. I'm not sure whether this is normal and I've never noticed it before (I've had the car for 2 months now) or if it's an actual issue. Any ideas?

Edit: issue is solved for now, scroll down for outcome.

No it’s not normal. So you bought used. Is the factory waranty still intact? Did the used car dealer give it any kind of warranty or return option? You may have bought into someone else’s problem. Generally I only buy performance cars new because gear heads of all ages mess with them and sometimes they mess up.

Let us know. If it was a problem with the car that they masked in order to sell it to you then you are going to have to be assertive to fix this. But we need more information on the car’s history and your options.

BTW: Give us the build date on the door sticker. You are right at the edge the bumper to bumper warranty.

Hey, I went on over to youtube to watch 0-60 times caught on phone for the V6 to specifically try to make out if it's a normal thing, and I managed to make out the same sound on every video lol (different videos different users). I'm using high quality headphones so I could easily tell. Let me correct myself on what I said earlier, that noise doesn't really sound like grinding, I might have over exaggerated. It's the belt-like sound that accompanies the engine noise when I let off the gas at higher rpm's. I'm going to call it overreaction for now as I myself am very sensitive when it comes to sounds and I must have just so happened to overstate the nature of this sound as being problematic.

To answer your question though, you're not gonna like it, but that's how things are done here. The car was damaged before it was put up on show and has a 1 year warranty for both engine and transmission at the dealer's. You might be asking how in the hell would someone buy a damaged car, so let me explain: I live in Lebanon, the country that is, and a new v6 mustang costs upwards of $45k here. Also, we have a law that states only one dealer can be allowed to be the official retailer for a certain brand, and Ford's dealer here doesn't really put used cars for sale. Thus the preowned car market here is very important. When it comes to American cars though, what most independent preowned car dealers do is, because of the insane customs import regulations, they ship damaged cars from the US with a lower than 20,000,000 L.L. value to avoid the 50% additional fee that comes when you're above that threshold, and then proceed to repair the damages here. In my case, the mustang was given a salvage title in the US but had noticeably acceptable superficial damage on the driver side (I have pictures). I thoroughly checked it for any permanent chassis damage and had it checked for mechanical failure before making the purchase and am very confident this car is in good shape now. I just had shorties installed and the mechanic that did the install was amazed at how new and clean the car is. Hope this helps.
