If you're referring to the smaller diameter system some people put on to fit 18" wheels, I respectfully disagree.AP Racing big brake kit puts the GT350 factory brakes to shame
I thought last time I looked, they had 14.5" and 16" options. If I'm mistaken and they don't have a 16" option, then I'll gladly take back that statement. Regardless, the GT350 brake and knuckle upgrade costs about the sameIf you're referring to the smaller diameter system some people put on to fit 18" wheels, I respectfully disagree.
Why do you care? I wouldn't call them stupid unless they bitch about the ride quality. If they want a track car for the street and enjoy it, let them enjoy it.I've met a couple, and I tell them that they made a stupid decision just the same as I'm telling Stage 3. Of course, I'm now stuck wondering, why are you guys flaunting the GT350's track abilities in an effort to refute my telling someone not to buy the car if they have no intentions whatsoever of taking it on track
I've owned S550's and tracked them. On the same tracks both the GT350 track pack was faster and the R even more so. Sorry you GT guys have GT350 envy and are much slower. LOLBoy, you GT350 owners sure are a sensitive bunch. Sorry you spend $40k extra for a car that isn't much faster
To pay extra for a car that charges extra for a specific purpose, fully knowing that you have no intention of using it for that specific purpose, is stupid. It's like buying an PlayStation even though you know you'd never even want to use it, you just want people to see your playstation and say "whoa, you have a playstation?!". It's stupid,Why do you care? I wouldn't call them stupid unless they bitch about the ride quality. If they want a track car for the street and enjoy it, let them enjoy it.
Congrats, you made a bunch of bad decisions. If you would've taken that $40k and invested it in your initial mustang, you would've had a MUCH faster car. But then you wouldn't be able to tell people "CAN YOU READ? IT SAYS 'S H E L B Y', THAT'S CODE FOR FAST!" and that's what it's really all about, isn't it?I've owned S550's and tracked them. You're right. "Opinionated jerk" is more fitting. To pay extra for a car that charges extra for a specific purpose, fully knowing that you have no intention of using it for that specific purpose, is stupid. Also, when did calling out people's stupidity become "caring"?
OH!!! So that's why I bought the GT350 twice over!!! Funny, not the first time I've been called thatYou're right. "Opinionated jerk" is more fitting.
Dude, most GT3, 675LT, Performance, Z06, hell, all supercar owners for that matter don't track their cars or are capable of being within 10 seconds of the cars capability (even for most who do track them).
I know you're an all high and mighty racer, but that shouldn't take away from people who appreciate and like track focused cars. If it wasn't for those "posers", no company would build these cars.
Again, if they bitch about the track focused aspects of the car, then yes they are a poser.
Well, lets see... You bought a GT, then sold it to get the GT350... that's at least a $10k hit on depreciation there. Then you sold the GT350 to get a GT350R, and although I'm HIGHLY doubtful that you paid under MSRP for it, that's at least a $5k hit on depreciation, along with the extra $20k in raw cost over your GT. Account for tax, tags, and licensing on both Shelbys, yes, it totals about $40k more than your GT.OH!!! So that's why I bought the GT350 twice over!!! LOLOLOL
$40K? where are you getting this preposterous number? My track pack was 56k and my R 62kis. How much does a PP2 cost 20k? LOLOLOLOLOL
See, for all of those examples, there can be very valid reasons... For the miata vs mustang, maybe the person needs 4 seats and more cargo space. For Spec cars vs street cars, maybe the person still needs to daily drive the car that they enjoy taking to the track and can't afford a separate racecar, or maybe it's just the specific class they want to race in. For a watch, the more expensive ones are typically of a higher quality and don't ever need replaced. A $50,000 watch, however, is outrageous and stupid, but still not as bad as a car, as watches don't really depreciate all that much (I personally wear a $4k Tag Heuer, and I still think that was a stupid purchase LOL).The same can be said from someone else's perspective. Spec Miata and S2000 guys laugh at "big heavy" mustangs with no talent drivers who need all that power and a V8 to pass people on straights, yet turn slower lap times.
Then their are people with dedicated racecar's like Spec Racer Ford's, Formula Ford's, F-1600 who laugh at people who track street cars. Are you stupid because you didn't buy a dedicated racecar? No.
I called said examples "posers". But those people are needed to help fund the creation of these cars.
You can pick apart anyone or anything. Why wear a $1,000 watch, let alone a $50,000 watch when a $2 one (or the clock on your phone) will do? Why wear a $10,000 suit? Why should people care what others do?
I liked my M3 because the S65 was special -to ME. I like my Mustang more because the engine is great and chassis is pretty darn good. Is it as prestigious as my M3? Probably not. It's not a Shelby. But I like it. If I could afford a GT350, I'd get one because the engine is that much better and special. It looks great, and sounds awesome. I'd probably occasionally track it but it wouldn't be a racecar. So it would fit my bill if I could afford it. Plus it'll hold it's value better than my GT. Could I make my GT faster in a straight line? Sure. Is there what I want? Probably not. Does that make me a poser or stupid? I don't think so any more than anyone else.
Get off your high horse.
Fair, but if you're buying a performance car as an investment, you're still making a terrible decision. Unless its something that's notorious for rapid appreciation like a Ford GT, cars are a fairly awful investment.GTs depreciate SIGNIFICANTLY faster than a Shelby. From that alone, the GT350 could be the better financial decision. Better car, more exclusive, more special, cooler, better investment.
Now dollars for doughnuts, GM cars tank in value. If you want bang/buck get a year or two old Z06, Z28, ZL1/1LE. They'll be cheaper than a new GT and much faster.
It's not all about costerformance ratio.
