I don't believe they've upped the power beyond what you get with the Ford Performance tune. That was tested for 60k without issues, and is the reason it's offered with a warranty.

Ford Performance had yet to offer a performance increase tune for the 2018, so maybe that's what they consider the safe limit.
FP is done with their 2018 tune and is awaiting CARB approval. It is higher output than the stock 2018 strategy.

Assuming no changes to the block design for the 2018s it appears Ford's engineers are satisfied the block can handle a modest increase in power demand, so anyone keeping their engine stock should have no worries. Do you have a source for your information?

I've yet to see convincing data showing inherent weakness with the 2.3L EcoBoost. 300+ reliable HP out of 2.3L is a stunning achievement. Based on everything I've been able to find online, the overwhelming majority of reported failures involve owners demanding power output far beyond the Ford Performance tune. Consumer Reports gave the 2015-2017 Mustang its highest rating for engine reliability (data is consolidated from 640,000 vehicles, including all models), and it has nothing negative to say about the 2.3L EcoBoost.

If anyone has evidence about problems with these engines in stock form I'd love to see it.
