F7 navigation card for Sync2 released

Today Ford Europe is releasing the new F7 maps update for Sync2 systems.

Here's some info from the dealer memo:

The new F7 version offers further optimized and easier route guidance combined with extended functionality like imporved traffic avoidance functions and an extended collection of POI's. Map data is supplied by HERE, a leading supplier of car navigation data.

The following improvements are included in version F7 (based on Q1 2017 map data) compared to the previous version F6 (based on Q4 2015 map data):

• 1,8 million new kilometers of roads (+13%)
• 1,1 million extra points of interest (+15%)
• 4,3 million extra street names
• 440.000 extra one way street indications
• 5,3 million extra speedlimit indications
• Updates of Ford dealer and Ford service partner locations
• Navigation coverage for 40 European countries, including Eastern Europe
• Improved accuracy for estimated time of arrival
• New residential and industrial areas
• Updated highway junctions and exits
• Extra POI's, including cash machines, gas stations, restaurants, shops and hotels

That's bloody expensive IMO and still a year behind... at-least for Belgium... there are tons of new roads here and speed cameras, speed over distance traps etc. I'm quite sure most are not covered in the update...

Some early info:
- package size increased from 27,7 Gb (F6) to 35,7 Gb (F7), due to more languages added (5->9). Removing new languages from the total, the new F7 is still bigger (29,05 Gb) than F6. However, you can delete all lang data you don't need, so you can easily fit it in a 32 Gb sd card.

- despite in the main folder is still reported

in a subfolder it's reported the correct version info

(F6 was SYNC2-NavData-ITI-EU-20160513-v15.1-RC1)

I can confirm that the 'found' version works 100%. I replaced the 'found' F6 map in the same sd card, keeping the previuos sdcard.key file.
Haven't driven on previously non-covered roads yet.. will report in the future.

Hey guys I just read that F8 maps for Sync 3 were just released. I hope that we could have soon a Sync 2 version!

Let's hope so indeed. Last time it took like 9 months or so before they came up with a Sync2 version. I wonder at what point they stop updating Sync2 altogether...
