. No, I didn’t try - I DID use your words against you...your words...and sadly, I didn’t have to look very hard. I’ve never seen more of a purchase confirming boyscout for the GT350 flip-flop so quickly and then explain it away, over and over.

To be fair, didn't you almost sell YOUR GT350R for an older air cooled 911?

I’m still thinking about it but it has nothing to do with the fact that it’s not perfect - I knew that long ago.

Ps - I can’t deny the allure of a Porsche - it’s the best automotive art there is, I’m in love. All I’m saying is that I’ve watched this whole thing go down for drum... “I love it even though i know it has flaws....it’s perfect (purchase confirmation kicking in)...it has had a few quality problems (said he knew about those in the beginning and it was fine)...it sucks, I’d never buy another - I’d get a Porsche instead (all of a sudden thinks it was supposed to be Porsche quality). It’s a common theme - whatever he thinks is right at the moment, he insists that everyone else should think the same and agree.

Again - I’m not arguing that the Mustang has a high quality fit and finish or that things don’t go wrong..I wish they didn’t and for a short time, I was in denial - even said that I wouldn’t buy one of these issues were glaring..which changed the moment I drove it, lol.

Geezus dude, let it go. Why do people like you care so much? It’s just a car and as you/others have said you are looking to do essentially the same thing.

#4.....left rear seat belt clasp. On an R?

I have grown to have a different outlook. Give me the basics and I'll clean up the flaws with my own level of detail. My '09 GT500 was very well executed in terms of engineering (for the time) and assembly. The '16 GT350 I sold last year wasn't as polished but it wasn't anything I couldn't take care of myself. I'm working on a Fox coupe build at the moment and it if you want to talk about garbage...

Fred, if I were you I'd get the Porsche. Life is too short to think about it but not do it if you have the means. Just don't be disappointed when I creep up next to you in my new (and imperfect!) GT500. I'll be happy to point out every flaw with a smile.
This.....................

Just can't get enuff!
I ordered a T. Will look pretty much like this. Imo the light weight buckets are overkill for the intended use of the T model. I had Recaro Pole Position seats in my '98 C4S and I had wished I didn't get them as I use my cars 98% on the street. And yeah I did splurge on the options a bit. Mostly the Carrera T interior package and rear wheel steering but was also mindful of the stock goodies like keeping the light weight glass, no sunroof etc.
I hear you but do recall that the LWBS is usually only available to the GT# models and this is the first non-GT# car where you can option it... not even the GTS version is able to be spec'd with LWBS. Anyhow there is absolutely nothing wrong at all with the "Sport Seat Plus" in the Carrera T... it's downright perfect plus with its unique pinstripe seat pattern, it's also a stylish & sporty design. I'd also consider it to save on the cost... I actually had the same Sport+ seats on my previous 991.2 standard Carrera. Back then there was no Carrera T yet... and I had it for less than a year but enjoyed it even on the track. Congrats and you did good on choosing GT Silver as well... love it!

Guess you didn’t read any of this? I don’t care that people switch cars - just annoying to see someone act so surprised when the same person would argue the other way previously. My gaf level is low.

Yes, I might go Porsche. Nothing to do with anything.

Looks stunning.

What can a low optioned T be purchased for?

I read it all and people change their minds (possibly even you) after living with something for quite awhile. So what?

I agree with others that have said you just like to argue sometimes for the sake of it. It has happened plenty in other threads.

I can't say the R is the last Ford I will buy as I recently bought an F150 and IMO best truck on the market. I will say the R is the last performance vehicle I purchase from ford. My next performance car will be a GT3. I am sure the New GT500 will be amazing but I guarantee that it will not check the boxes for me in terms of the drive. I don't care if the car isn't the most powerful. What I do want is a light and tight connection to the road. Very few cars offers that and the obvious choice for me at least would be moving up to a GT3.

OP, back on the subject. My dream car growing up was a M3(M4). I went through two of them in less then two years before I realized that it wasn't what I was looking for in a fun car. When I decided to move on, I test drove a bunch of cars and two of them was a Cayman S (pre turbo) and a 911 S (current model).

The older Cayman was a go kart, but with the older N/A engine it was hard for me to go that much backwards on power. Plus I need rear seats even if they are small like ours and in a 911. Then I test drove the 911 S fully expecting to order one and trade in my M4 on it. It was a truly awesome car and this is probably going to sound weird, but it was too nice. It was really quiet and incredibly smooth around town during normal driving. It was a PDK (I'd still order a manual), which was unbelievably smooth and quick shifting. I ended up getting the GT350 over it because of the more visceral experience and to be honest performance/smiles per dollar. Also, I usually don't care what people think about my car choices, but I gotta admit, picking my daughter up from elementary school in a 911 would've felt a bit awkward. I'm in a very rural/farming/blue collar town so even though the GT350 is a very expensive car to most people, it still blends in a lot better than a 911 of any type. Any way, as many others have said, the GT350 is still a hell of a car that delivers a unique driving experience that isn't easily found nowadays for a good price. I have yet to drive something that makes me smile more than it, warts/problems and all.

But, that all being said, I plan on paying off the GT350, caging it and turn it into a dedicated track car. Then ordering a manual 911 GTS with some bells and whistles. As a car guy a 911 is an itch I'm going to have to scratch someday.

So... I just went back to the Porsche dealer near me where I test drove the 718 GTS and took a look at a Carrera, which I understand has the same engine as the Carrera T.

And I actually preferred the 718? I thought the turbos on the Carrera muffled the exhaust too much, and took away some of that high end scream present on non-turbo flat 6s. The roughness/boxer sound of the 718 gave it more character. I feel like I'm saying heinous, sacrilege things here lol.

LWB's are a $5200 option, you lose the back seats as well. I never used the seats in my GT350 and probably won't in this car but the seatbacks are nice to flip down for a shelf to place a gym bag etc. The Carrera T pkg w/ leather sport tex seats is a combined $6670 option so really not saving any there

Thanks, love your GBM GT3. Looks great on that model for sure...

$102,100 w/ no options. My order has over $20K in options however

These are some of the reasons why I chose the T model. This time around I was being honest with myself. The Carrera T only has 370 hp but it's also under 3,200 lbs. Lag is reportedly very low on the base 3.0 and many say it's the best engine for the street and tight back roads. I had a 997.2 GT3 in the past and that model for me was too focused for the track and wasn't all that great just driving day to day. The GT350 was much better as a daily but I never really tapped the level of performance in the car. You really can't where I live unless you go to the track, and I've been a motorcycle track day instructor for the last 12 years. Just recently hung up my leathers so maybe I'll get into car days in the future, but is not my priority right now.

I've gone back and forth from 911 to Mustangs. I started with Mustangs, got into 911's, went back to Mustangs etc. Both models have changed through the years, some eras were appealing to me and others weren't so I suppose that's why I've gone back and forth.
Options! and that is how Porsche makes the most on cars they sell, the damned options. LOL It'll be a few years before I am in the market as I still have a lot to ring out on the R.

What am I missing about the Carrera T? The 0-60 is 1s slower than our cars. Other than it being a Porsche .. what’s the allure?
