So dealer is going to fix my oil leak. Still diagnosing if its rear main seal. But i think it is. The leak is right between the transmission and motor. So I asked the guy if they can install a new clutch for me if they’re going to go ahead and do the seal. He said yes as long as you change out the flywheel and parts that need to go with it. But there’s also going to charge about 170 in additional labor which is cool with me. So my question is what clutch do you guys recommend I was thinking the McLeod Twin Disc. And steel flywheel. Also who has the best deal?

deff get a throw out bearing just safe insurance even if yours is good might as well replace it while its apart ..since you have the line already thats about it .. i dont know your future mods or what kind of hp you want to make . but the rst should be fine.. dont get a rxt they clamp to hard and from what ive seen and read there mt82 breakers

I would go with the RST too. I have one in my '05 and it's been great. RXT if you plan on racing with drag radials or slicks.

There seems to be a few who have recently had bad luck with the RST's on cars making any kind of decent power. I had an RST in my old supercharged 3V(520rwhp) and loved it, but seeing quite a few people having problems makes me a little weary.

Bang for the buck I'd have to say Exedy Mach 500. I haven't used one, but I haven't seen one bad thing posted about it from the guys that run them. And there's a few guys running 700-800rwhp abusing them at the track.

ok now that I am on my laptop I can give more of a breakdown.

car currently is lune flex tune, full bolt ons. lots of suspension with more coming. car will be more setup for road coarse but I still want to take to drag once in awhile. I maybe see about 4 track days a year if I am lucky. I put down 444 uncorrected rwhp and 397 tq. currently have 2018 intake waiting to be installed with supporting injectors. after that a procharger is what I am leaning towards. that would be pretty much it. try to get the most out of that setup. I don't daily drive any more. at the track I have a set of 315 35 19 hoosier s7 slicks. also as I type that I realize before the super charger im going for the carbon fiber one piece shaft and some good half shafts...

so with all that currently the dilema is rst, or rxt clutch? lol id like mantic but thats to much for me at this point.

throwout bearing added to list. one question on that. get the heavy load one right?

I went with the ACT Twin Disk Street clutch. It's unsprung so I was worried at first but I got it for a good deal from RDP. I'm still breaking in the clutch and for being unsprung I'm surprised how easy it is to drive. Clutch is a little heavier, but as I break it in more it seems to be less heavy than before.

There is a little shudder in the beginning that's very light and it gets better and better as I learn the clutch and it breaks in. Sometimes I just give it some more RPMs and it gone completely. I feel light once I break it in (300-500 mile break in period) it should go away completely, right now only drove it 100 miles. Once you learn this clutch you can shift it smoothly through the gears.

Also, another thing I noticed is that if you are at 1500 rpm and give it some gas there is chatter, but to avoid that I shift at a higher rpm and try to keep it above 2k rpm and it won't happen. Overall I'm really happy I went with this clutch and I got an SFI card with it too :).

I would do the RST. My '05 lays down 597 rwhp and 545 rwtq and it's been fine even with a dozen or so hard launches at the track on drag radials. Break it in properly and it should serve you well.

yeah every clutch i ever did which has been a good bit .. i just always did stop and go driving if you must drive on the highway just vary the rpm,s and gears, i usually do about 3 to 400 miles thats normal driving.. i mean you can give it a little here and there but dont race or be redlining at all

Ok ill keep my heavy foot in check lol. So between the rst twin and the exedy setup are what i am looking at right now. I feel like i would hate myself later if i didnt get a twin disc . Is the nvh that bad?

With a twin you don't want to run too low rpm's or you'll hear some lugging noise. In other words, if you hear lugging drop down a gear. The pedal effort is very light, engagement is extremely smooth. For break in, just drive normal for the 1st few hundred miles with a lot of shifting. Staying in one gear doesn't count as break in time or mileage. Definitely do not break it in hard. The whole idea of break in is to allow every square inch of friction material to wear down flat to the pressure plate, flywheel and floater plate before banging any gears.

Sometimes I'll sand blast my pressure plate, flywheel and floater plate mating surfaces before the install to roughen them up a bit and provide a quick wear surface for faster break in, but that's not necessary. Just be patient
