Hey guys been searching high and low for a gt350 trying to figure out which best worked for me. After seeing a few used 16's today I decided I prefer the recaro interior. However I would like to have the nav 8" screen. I have found some 16' track pack cars for very reasonably priced in the high 40's low 50's and was wondering has anyone swapped the nav head unit into a track pack 16 or if that is even possible. Or is it more cost effective to search for a used 17? Any help is appreciated. The head unit is not a deal breaker but after sitting in the leather interior it reminds me of the seats in my jeep grand Cherokee very soft and squishy haha.

Thanks,

Yes, it can be done. There is a guy who sells all the parts needed. The wiring is there and it is just a bit of work. Let me see if I can find the links.....

I like to disassemble things.
Copy and paste the following into a Google search bar and you'll find the writeup I did on this conversion.

Yup, certainly a doable swap to add in the touch screen to a Track Pack. And just as easy to swap Recaros into a Tech Pack, but not as easy to add the extra coolers and transmission of a Track to a Tech.

While I would have liked the touch screen in my '16 Track Pack, I don't miss it one bit. And I like to imagine that every tiny bit of weight savings helps.

But I'm the kind of guy who would want a base R with no A/C and radio as well. For me, with this car, it's all about the driving experience first and foremost; things like nav, touch screen tech and stereo upgrades aren't as important for me.

Thanks for all the responses guys! Very Helpful info. My main reasoning for the track pack is wanting the recaro interior. I sat in both seats yesterday when I went to look at a few used ones in my area. Although the leather interior looks very nice... after sitting in it I can see how it may not be as supportive when cornering at higher speeds. Plus there was a noticeable difference in height. I am just looking for the easiest swap.
1) get a track pack and down the line swap over to the navi screen.
2) get a tech pack and find someone who doesn't like the recaros for a swap out. ( but that's likely the much harder route to go)

I will keep you guys posted when I purchase a vehicle.

i felt the exact same way... first sat in a '16 w/ the comfy seats and the big touch screen nav. HATED the seats, loved the nav. then sat in a '17 that just had the nav along with the base recaro seats and omg had to have one. lol i would recommend looking for a '17 that has both the electronics package as well as the recaro seats. they are coming down in price, can be had for right around $50 +- and come with extra year of warranty over the 16's if build date was later

Looking forward to another NJ GT350. Are you in north NJ?
When you say "cornering at higher speeds," are you planning to track the car? If so, I would also recommend the Recaros and make sure you have the track pack with the coolers for the engine oil, rear differential, and transmission.

And yes, option 1 is better than option 2.

Best of luck with your search!

I am in central NJ living in Jackson. A lot of back winding roads near me for spirited driving.

I used to drive them on the way to McGuire AFB. Cool!
