Take the longest run between pulleys and use your thumb and index finger and attempt to rotate the belt 90 degrees. Like you're trying to flip the belt over on it's side. If it's too tight you won't be able to do it without using clearly excessive force. If it's too lose it will rotate past 90 degrees.
good info Oesman, thanks for all your help. My new gates belts ($44 each) come this Wednesday. Yes i brought a back up to that new belt as well. i gotta tell you guys i have a looked at the gates green belt ,i have one left over from my previous Paxton car. I compared it to this pc belt and the pc belt looks and feels cheap. I Also looked up the price of the Pc belt by the part # and its $15.00. I guess you get what you pay for....glad i'm doing this...

A little off topic, but what is the big deal about different brand belts? As long as the belt holds up and doesn't disintegrate, how can it get "better"?

Y'all will probably scoff at me but I'm running an Autozone belt on my Procharger lol. Seems to work perfect though  No slip or any problems. The Procharger supplied belt for my 20psi pulley didn't fit, so I got one a couple sizes bigger from the store.

I would have probably said the same as you but when you see the difference in quality for your own eyes you just want the best options for your set up !! Dont think its off topic to me, the whole reason why I'm in this thread is because my kit was installed by my tuner. I want to upgrade my belt so i needed to know how to tension it properly. The instructions leave alot of Detail out.. because of this thread i understand how it all works. i think its a good thing to know how to install a belt and properly tension it. My plan is to keep this car and this d1x for a longtime!

I have made 850 rwhp with the stock belt with no issues.
I can't see why any Coyote owner would have issues up to say 1000rwhp
If proper tension is used.

(my own personal cars run the stock belt as well)

"Feel" and "Look" should never dictate a belt purchase.

Its all about how long it can last based on the materials its made out of.
The temperatures it can withstand without breaking down.
And the stretch factor, when force is applied.

Technically the "green" belts are 100% wrong for a supercharger. (just ask gates and they will tell you) Hence, why they came out with the "RPM" brand. Which is actually a dedicated belt for extreme duty. However since 99% of our customers will never exceed the stock belts limits, we currently have no reason to use the RPM as a stock belt

About 10 years ago when my car was making 823 rwhp, it used a $37 belt I randomly grabbed at Autozone. I believe it was called a "drivemaster" or something like that.

It was still on the car when I sold that one 2.5 years later...
(2) engines, (2) transmissions, and about 10 sets of tires later!

Ya, the whole "Green Belt" and "Magic Belt" thing is really really overrated.

The main two reasons for slippage are....

- too small of a pulley diameter for traction
- not enough belt tension

Keep the pulley size logical, and belt snugged up as the instructions state.
And all will be well.

NOTE: One of our engineers here runs a 8 year old, 8 rib stock belt on his 1000hp F-1X powered LSX Cobra. Pretty crazy, that something so old, abused, and faded still on the car and bringing home the $$$$ from event wins.
