Comparing a PDK equiped Porsche to a Mustang........

I don't really get what you're trying to say with most of your post above, but I'd bet the 10SPD Mustang is faster than the 6SPD MT Mustang even on a road course.
The A10 is no where as snappy with the changes as say a PDK and reviews have said it can get confused on optimum gear. So when going for a complicated 10 speed auto you're always going to be second place to other competitors. With the stick shift the difference between say Mustang and Porsche are no where near as noticeable.

Point is that a relatively inexpensive car like Mustang should be kept simple.

Except a lot of people seem to disagree based on the number saying they want the a10, digital dash etc.

The great thing is YOU can order a simple Mustang, and others who disagree can (thankfully) order whatever they want.

I have a lot of respect for these new automatic and dual clutch transmissions. I remember the days of the 4 speed auto-tragics in which you could file your taxes in between shifts.

With that said, as long as my left leg is fully operable, I'll be shifting my own gears. I drive for personal enjoyment, don't drag race, and could careless about tenths in a quarter mile.

You're posts are confusing;

Many 1st hand accounts say the new 10A shifts hard as hell in track mode. Second, any transmission with 10 gears is going to hunt......there's 10 gears, it's the nature of the beast. Third, I can't even begin understand why you think the 10A is "a complicated 10 speed auto", or why having such a transmission means "you're always going to be second place to other competitors".

What other competitors? The Camaro, that uses the same transmission?

You then go on to compare a Porsche to a Mustang again, despite the fact that they're not competitors.

You summarize by writing"a relatively inexpensive car like Mustang should be kept simple".

Right. That's exactly what Ford did, by using a regular automatic instead of a DCT.

One minute you admit it will hunt for gears and then wonder why it will be second place to competitors. 10 gears, 7 gears whatever, if you're into flappy paddles you want something that does the job best, not one that is hunting for gears.

Second place to WHAT COMPETITORS??? The transmission has no competitors, no one else has a 10SPD auto, other than Ford's partner in the transmission, Chevy. A little hunting in auto-mode isn't an issue, it is to be expected when the trans has 10 speeds to select from.

If you buy a vehicle with a 10 speed automatic transmission, and you're not expecting some gear hunting in auto-mode, you're not thinking straight. And if you use the paddles on the 10A, it won't hunt around.

Hell, I've never even driven the 10A, and I can imagine it would hunt around in auto-mode.

This ↑↑↑

Gears 3 through 6 are pretty tightly spaced and I'm betting they'd be the ones seeing a lot of use in reasonably normal street driving.

I've never once heard the 17' ZL1 owners complaining of their 10A gear hunting.

My guess, as mentioned in an earlier post, is that the Auto is still learning and needs more miles. My A6 hunted when new and settled after a number of miles.

Seven speed Porsche PDK for example. To say they are not competitors is nonsense. If people want a performance car they will look at most performance cars within their budget. Even Dave Pericak said they compared and tested the 2015 Mustang against Porsche. It doesn't matter if it's 10 speed or not, people want a gearbox that does the job properly.

Show me a 911 that’s 40k or even a cayman that’s 40k, I’ll wait.

Also who TF is Dave pericak? And what does a 2015 mustang have to do with the 2018? Sounds like you are regurgitating magazine drivel.
