I’ve not driven a Chrysler hemi, but I agree on the ZF 8 speed comment. It’s a fantastic gearbox.
My car was delivered vibration free then I had it under sealed because I live in the UK where they salt roads in winter. The shop that coated the underside got a little on the prop shaft and the car immediately developed a vibration at 50-70mph just like yours. Once they cleaned the prop shaft the vibration went instantly. Hence worth pointing out for anyone else if you get a low drone vibration from behind you in this speed range, check your prop shaft balance.

OP, hope the Challenger works out well for you. As the number of cars with N/A 8 cylinders and manual transmissions dwindle, if it's still around, the Challenger may be my next play car.

The ScatPac was a lot of fun. The low end is super. I regret being a pu$$y and not standing up to my wife. I should've kept it when I bought the Shelby.

After 4 months of bullshit from Ford about the 50 to 70 mph vibration the car has had for the last 7000 miles I came across a Challenger SRT 392, totally loaded today and traded the GT plus a little cash and I am ecstatic about this car. That will be my last Ford product after this engineering fuck up.

Guessing the tires got a case of cold flatspotting just sitting for an extended length of time in cool/cold ambient temperatures. This still happens, and I notice it with the MPSS as well.

Because when I picked up my car the last time they told me they couldn't figure out what was wrong with it and I may need to take it to an independent shop for them to look at it. The damn car is under warranty and I wasn't about to pay to fix the problem. I didn't lose any money trading it in as I got a great deal on the car so I got out of it ok. Just tired of 5 months of no fixes.
But after such a bad customer service experience I don't want to go through that again so yes this is probably my last ford.

I can understand the frustration with customer service aspect. Good luck with dodge. Hopefully should the need arise you get better CS.

For the record I'm not a fan boy. This is my first mustang and second ever Ford out of12 or so vehicle. Mostly always had gm trucks or Tahoe.

Out of curiosity what issues with tundra? I know certain years had common issue with an air pump or something crapping out? Mine was a 15 and was flawless for 2 years and 45k miles. Though there definitely were people i saw posting who had issues.

I understand your frustration. It sounds like you were at least willing to give Mustangs a second chance, and you may still do so after having one or two cars in the interim. Maybe by then, you'll either have a different dealership's service department to work with, or at least a different crew at this one.

If it makes you feel any better, the Maxima in my sig is such a "second chance" car, 14 model years later from a different dealer (the first one would disassemble its transaxle input shaft bearing on a fairly predictable 50,000-ish mile schedule and three or four of the switches on the dash broke). I wasn't going to go near another one for at least 5 years after the 3rd bearing went, or near the dealer after the first.


Were the integral links ever checked or changed?

Hope life with your Challenger turns out better. I'd be interested in reading your comparison between the two cars as far as 'how they drive' is concerned.

It had 3 driveshafts on it. This went on all summer. Part after part. No fix. Take a look and you will see there are a ton of people having this issue

Understand the frustration all too well. Purchased an 89 LX back in the day that developed paint peeling off in sheets. Long story short the dealer blew it off and we couldn't get any satisfaction to repaint the vehicle. This was pre- World Wide Web days so there wasn't a place to share experiences with many folks.
So my wife called the local TV station after they aired one of those consumer reports shows. They did their due diligence to confirm we weren't blowing smoke and eventually the story aired. Ford couldn't fix the vehicle fast enough after that. Amazing what some publicity will do. Didn't get back into a Mustang until the S550. So far I'm pleased , can't complain about any issues. Unfortunately there will be vehicles that exhibit some issues. Even prestigious name plates aren't immune but the dealer is the weak link in most cases.
Good luck with the SRT , my brother just traded his Scat Pack for the SRT. He was tired of the manual and opted for the 8 SP Auto.

Over night? I drove the car about 70 miles the day before.

I was reading about the wheel lug nut torque values the night before and enjoying a bowl of Frog Morton in my pipe out in the garage I keep the Shelby in and whipped out the torque wrench and gave all the nuts a go. They all were a tad loose. Maybe 140 ft lbs vs the 150 they are spec'd at. Nothing major. When I drove off the next day and the vibration started I thought wtf, could changing the torque on the lugs have induced a temporary vibration. But while I was mulling it over the vibration just gradually diminished and disappeared within a few miles.
Probably the ghost of Henry screwing with me for bad mouthing his products.

you sure bout that? Ford has produced some of the best transmisions available in their time. Also the 8hp90 and 6r80 are both ZF designs. Ford did co-design the 10spd in the F150 and ZL1...is the 8hp90 better than the A10?

Take it in for warranty...why are people so scared about doing this? My car is rock solid into 3 digits and has been since day 1. Don't accept it as "what the car is". It's got something not quite right and not design intent. Go get it fixed...
