Randy Pobst at Laguna Seca. ZL1 vs GT350R head to head:

"What about on the test track? In a straight line, the ZL1’s power advantage was apparent, though not at first. The Shelby hit 60 mph in 4.0 seconds compared to 3.8 for the ZL1."

"The quarter mile is where the power of the ZL1 overwhelms the R. The Shelby gets down the strip in 12.2 seconds with a trap speed of 119.0 mph. The Chevy rips down 1,320 feet in 11.8 seconds at 123.9 mph. Half a second and nearly 5 mph is pretty significant in drag racing circles."

As for actual track time? 1:27.90 for the ZL1. 1:28.29 for the GT350R.

There you have it, brah. Smoked, yet again. Same day. Same driver. You and fanboy ninjak just cannot accept reality.

You fanboys are hilarious. Keep on crying. Keep on fanboying. You don't care about facts, pure fanboyism. But once again, you do you.
What's a "brah"?

Umm...because I actually drive my car for what is what meant for that makes me a fictional character. Hmm well no..since I do not street race..but since we are now in the Fast n Furious world, lets say another quote:
"Its not how you STAND next to your car its how you RACE your car."
Oh, the irony in this response given your avatar is a picture of you standing next to your car....
If you would take note, that pic was taking when I purchase the car. Notice no front splitter installed... You should take a pic as well when you purchase since your still in the market as your avatar says...

The guy is corny as hell. I'm waiting for him to say "I live my life a quarter mile at a time."
Corney huh ? Says the guy who can only communicate using mem's like a 10 year old and when lacks any true facts to back his argument reverts to name calling and brah....It says you have a 17 GT...I bet you bought it because all of the cool kids had one. Take it back and get the Camaro. It really does not matter what you have because its obvious you know nothing about your car unless a magazine tells you.

Yet again, MAGAZINE TIMES. At least you posted something a real driver did. Also when did I ever say the GT350 was faster than a ZL1 ? If you would actually read instead of trying to find a meme to communicate with, you would see that I said a SS 1LE, not a ZL1. I already understand the ZL1 will be quicker in the 1/4 and at the track due to the power advantage. Now I will say I am not so sure in a TRACK SESSION. That test is 1 lap. Multiple laps are a different story and I have not seen any results for that.

Ask ninjak. Trying to use his language so he understands reality.
No I do not understand your language at all. That's how children on IG communicate. I am a adult that does not communicate with pictures. I actually understand how cars work, I actually use my car for what it was built for, and I actually have seen real world results by DRIVING my car and other cars. You ? Well you wait for the next magazine to tell you. Hey the WGDR 7 is out. You can use that for some facts.

Or I will post this in a language you understand. [ame]

BOOM BRAH.

Maybe all this bickering will quiet down when a 2018 GT's performance numbers come out in magazines and in head to head testing?

Just coming into this thread for the first time and I don't know who's the bigger idiot; the guy who is treating this thread like it's Reddit or the guy who is ignoring hard numbers. It's like the 2016 election all over again.

What on earth is it about the pony car demographic, that has you all constantly dropping your pants and grabbing the measuring tapes? It leaks into EVERY thread here somehow, and I hardly run into this issue on other automotive forums. Y'all need to agree to disagree and just chill out.

It should not. But you always get the magazine racer that decides anything a magazine prints is the diehard truth in all things. All I stated, and still stand by if you want a Mustang to hang with the BMW's and Camaro's or insert "brand" here, you need to pay for it. The great thing about the 18 is it can be as grand or bland as you like. That is what this thread is about. I did not bring magazine racing or all this other nonsense into the conversation. I tried to state the truth in things and hopefully attempt to educate people along the way. I am no expert, but I know what I know. Unfortunately its hard to have a conversation with people when they can hide behind a keyboard and act any way they want to.

One upping each other is just part of the human condition. Get any group together, wine tasters, hikers, bed wetters, whatever - I don't care. They will one-up each other.

I'm not sure why you haven't figured that out yet.

Oh - and one more thing - if you are trying to sell something to a group I would advise against insulting them.

There's a big difference between one-upping and turd-slinging while insulting one another.

And I'm not selling anything to the folks on this forum, just here for my own personal use to have reasonable conversations with like minded enthusiasts.

Unfortunately this is just the world we live in. Xbox vs. PlayStation, iPhone vs. Android, Ford vs. Chevy, Right vs. Left, these are just some of the topics that always devolve into a shitfest.

On the flip side, have you ever spent time on Rennlist? Nicest bunch of enthusiasts I've ever seen.

Rennlist is great, and to be fair the vast majority of folks here are great as well. I've had equally good experiences on jaguarforums and maseratilife as well.

my only gripe really is that for some reason on this forum there's always some guy that comes crashing in shouting "BUT THE CAMARO" and then a fight ensues for 4 pages.

Honestly, I'm OK with the camaro comparisons. Keep it clean and civil and the rhetoric can be fun. The problem I have is when people start making BS comparisons based off of garbage data and then continue to make snarky comments and belittle other members.

There has never been a car like the 6th gen Camaro plain and simple. It is a 40k supercar that has the best owners, fastest track times and never has any issues. Highest retail sales, highest profit margins, highest resale values, etc so of course people are going to be on edge :eyebulge:

That's exactly what I'm trying to say, compare all day long, it's what we're all here for. But there's no reason to be uncivil or childish about it. Especially if the data you're presenting is coming from magazines, which we all know typically have some sort of bias or use un-reproduceable results.
