Sport and leave it. And keep the traction control ON, especially if you're dipping into the 4K RPM ranges around bends and turns. Putting your foot into it at that RPM is...tricky. I would know. :ninja:
Would you leave it in sport at the track as well? I did...scared to take it into track mode.

Does Sport mode and/or Track mode change the throttle response? If so, is there a difference between Sport mode's throttle response and Track mode's?

It feels to me like Sport mode's throttle might be more responsive compared to Normal mode. Not sure if it's just my imagination or if the throttle mapping is actually changed.
In my car with a tune there is a HUGE difference in throttle response between normal and sport, and not the kind of artificial throttle juicing that some of the aftermarket tuners put in their "race" tunes for GT's.

You will never reach the cars potential in any other mode but Track. The car hold back way to much in sport mode and if you have not felt it you are not even exceeding the sport parameters. I started in sport mode to get the feel of the car on my first track day and quickly realized I had to select track mode and holy COW!!!!! this car is balanced! I am no professional but this car makes it easy to go fast. In my 15 GT/PP there was a significant amount of push/under steer, not in this thing at the same speeds. Not only did my lap times improve but i never felt any correction from the ecu. I know for a fact I could have gone faster and brake deeper in the brake zone. Practice practice practice.

Thank you Sir.

Any crazy slippage from the TC being turned off? I know at the driver training course I went too they were pretty intent on no one turning off traction control.

I will be turning it into track mode next time. Cannot wait for next season to start.

I did my first two track days in sport mode.
This weekend, I used track mode, big difference.
It will spin, slide and do other things, but it is much faster.
Keep in mind for me, I am on rears with about 25% of life left.
Originally it would take me 2 laps to warm up tires. I found out that with mostly worn out rears, they need 3 laps, As I was sideways in turn one :)
But car was easy to control, once tires fully warm, track is the way to go.

Thanks for your reply, but I'm not clear on the cause and effect.
- Do you feel a huge difference because your tune specifically changes the throttle mapping program?
- Or is the throttle mapping program "as is" from the factory between normal and sport, but you feel the huge difference due to the tuning you've done with something else that effects the engine's performance?

The GT350 has a Drag drive mode. I've never used it, but supposedly it firms up the rear suspension on launch and then softens it up as you go down the strip for stability.
Isn't it the opposite? I thought it softened the suspension for launch, then stiffened it all up at higher speeds. I've used it a few times on empty roads just to practice launching and to test out the 1/4 mile timer. I quickly learned that I suck at drag racing so I don't really bother with it anymore. Maybe I'll try again but I'm paranoid about fucking something up while launching. It just seems so hard on the car. I either slip the clutch too much, the whole car bogs down, or I get crazy wheel hop. I recorded a 12.6 though so I guess I didn't do too bad.

Something that I've never seen mentioned anywhere is that the computer rev holding is different once you put it in Track. That is to say, the revs drop instantly when clutch in while in Track, so not only do you have to shift briskly but also very fast shifts are easier and feel better than in other modes. In Sport (and Normal), on clutch in it hesitates an instant then drops the RPMs to just above the right RPMs for the wheel speed in the next higher gear; if you try to shift before the revs drop you're forcing it into gear. Try this out while watching the tachometer and you will see that it's a pretty significant difference in driving feel between the modes.

Yeah, I'm backwards. Point is it messes with the front-rear balance dynamically as you're rolling.

After three full track days in Sport Mode on my local track (which I've been attending for 10 years now), I finally switched to Track Mode for my last two sessions yesterday. I can corroborate the statements above... I was surprised at how much more controlled the car is on track in Track Mode... The stability control still kicked in and saved my bacon on one lap when I got on the throttle too abruptly during a corner exit, but at all other times, the car was just much more predictable in Track Mode.

Bottom line: If you have a decent amount of track experience, don't be afraid to use Track Mode!

I changed yours to show my understanding. Each level, (Normal-Sport-Track) changes the steering, shocks, throttle response, traction control, and AdvanceTrac parameters. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I personally like to run in Track Mode but change my steering and shocks to Sport.
Maybe I need to look again at the steering modes but the only options I have are Normal - Sport - Comfort - maybe this dialogue changes when I switch to track and I just didn't notice it (I've only done it a few times).

Also - are you saying if I turn traction control off (quick toggle, not the hold) in Sport it behaves differently than when it's automatically off in Track?

There's only two steering modes, Normal and Sport. Track mode engages Sport Steering.
I have 3 steering modes:

Sport, Normal, Comfort

Sport and Track mode engage Sport Steering for me - at least I'm 99% sure sport mode engages sport steering.. I'll check when I get home.

It indeed does.
