FYI. My buddy ran a high performance driving school and they stress safety. With your hand at 12:00 (directly in line with the air bag) ..and you are rear ended or generally in an accident the airbag deploys....your hand becomes a weapon launching into your face. The results I've seen in pictures he has ....reconstructive surgery in most cases. Ever see the passengers, mostly girls with their feet on the dash or out the corner of the window....looks cool. I've seen those pictures as well when their airbag deploys...major, major facial injuries. Google it, somewhat sickening to see the results.

Just be safe :cheers::cheers:
This.

On the bold, I was told a gruesome story by a state trooper that witnessed a scene with a girl whose feet were blown off by the dash airbag, not to mention the facial injuries....

On topic, I think I need one of these wheels for the winter downtime.

This is why I tell my girlfriend to put her damn legs down when she moves them anywhere close to the dash. As for the way I hold my steering wheel...doubt i'll change that anytime soon haha :shrug:

After reading the positive comments about SVE X550 steering wheel, I just ordered one from Late Model Restoration. I went with the black stitching and black center line stripe.

For those who have the wheel, are you still liking it? :cheers:

Was at a Mustang Show yesterday .... Had quite a few guys comment on my new wheel , even asking for their web site. One guy actually wanted to sit inside and feel it!! He did and said he'll order one for sure!!

Just installed one of these five min ago. I have paid over twice this amount for a flat bottom steering wheel like this for other vehicles. At 269 the price is right.

DeadLoad -

While the LMR installation video seems pretty complete, any tips or advice for those of us who are going be swapping out our OEM wheel with the SVE X550?

Thanks. :cheers:

Ha I didn't even see the Lmr video until right now. That clearly explains how to do everything correctly. And I just noticed I forgot the counter weight :frusty: so back to the garage I go!

Well I'm glad I mentioned the video. Can't have you driving around without the counter weight. :cheers:

Sounds (and looks) like it's a pretty straight forward install. I'm gonna tackle it this weekend. :cheers:

tips:
1) don't over tighten the screws that go through the factory plastic bits into the metal body the plastic is shit and easily split.
2) don't be afraid to have to trim a little excess leather off to make the plastic bits clip in right and click together the leather is thicker than factory vinyl so the pieces don't clip back together as easily.

This video is great and worth a watch, thanks for sharing. That carbon fiber wheel looks amazing.
