A big truck decided to throw a piece of retread at me today while going 70 mph on the interstate. It hit the front bumper. The damage isn't bad, but what are my options? The rest of the car is very close to perfect.

To get that fixed at a body shop would probably run close to $1000. I'm basing that on either doing body work on the existing fascia or getting a new one and then the repaint. I have a similar one on my front bumper and just left it.

Best advice: take it to a body shop. You'll likely need a new splitter and paint.

I'm definitely taking it to a body shop for a quote, but it is Saturday night and I have a while to think about it. Trying to get ideas of the different ways of taking care of it.

I feel your pain, road debris sucks. I think a good scratch remover and/or buff will correct or hide a lot of it. Maybe try that first and see if you can live with it. If you do get a new fascia when it is all said and done, definitely do the clear mask. There was another current thread recently on this. They are amazing. I was sold when I saw it at the car show, and they let me take a wire brush to the front of a brand new Porsche, he took out a heat gun, and like magic, it was shiny, clear, new, again. They also absorb some of the impact and would have helped in this situation. I did my front fascia, hood up past the vents, mirrors, and door handle pockets, flawless going on two years.... I did Suntek, there other also other premium options, just get a good installer, that is what makes the difference.

Wow that sucks. I wouldn't be happy UGGH

I'd try some scratch remover, rubbing compound and then cleaner wax 1st. Couldn't hurt. I had to do that with my daughters car. I used some touch up paint and 2000 grade wet sandpaper. Then I polished it out using rubbing compound with a wheel. Made it look 95% better and you don't see it 5 feet away. Try that 1st while your all bummed out and can't go to the body shop on a sunday.

I would go this route first too. If you can fix the paint yourself to your standards do it. You can always buy a OEM splitter on the forums. I have my base GT one sitting in my house.

Professional repair required.
$800.00 to $1000.00 for the bumper removal/repair/repaint/and reinstallation.
$250.00 to $300.00 for splitter plus installation.

First off, thank you for not jerking wheel to try and avoid and end up nearly killing a motorcyclist. Seen that, debri damage sux but no big deal in grand scheme.

90 percent will buff out.
5% could be just light tough up paint.
$150 for not perfect but DD ish.

You could claim insurance and get 100% perfect OEM new, but $400 bumper, $250 R&R, $250 paint for total $850-1100.

Or just hand buff it youself w rough then mild cut and leave it. $15

Buy a second perfect bumper virgin and have it painted and store in garage attic for the day you sell to put on.

I pulled my stock bumper and bought a craigslist spare early and use the CL one as car gets tracked. Its a stang and meant to be driven.

Damn, so maybe that would have been the one time that it would have been good to have a front license plate

Not worth taking the hit on your CLUE report. Buff it, touch it up and clean up the splitter best you can.
Had a chunk of retread hit my front top edge last month. Still need to buff it out.

Wrap the lower portion in black vinyl and get an aftermarket lip.

I had the front bumper replaced on my gt last year, because a co worker backed his truck into my parked car.
OEM parts(front bumper, grille)with paint was under 900 at caliber collision.

When I asked for options, what I was really wondering about were options such as a different front fascia like the Roush. Whatever route I take, it will be fixed like new.
