Where I live we have a small airport that I can get fuel from. I know the octane is great. I used to run it in my 68 Camaro every weekend and had no issues. It had a 1150 Dominator with 468ci motor.. That motor loved airplane gas... It really made it fly!:D It has been several years since I ran this fuel. I did run it in a Foxbody car with a Vortech a couple of times and this car responded well.

I am wondering if anyone runs airplane fuel and if it is safe to run. I think they have the low lead fuel.

Gotta check with the fuel supplier. Some AV gas is only intended to run in motor up to 4000 rpm as was the Low Lead 100 AV gas we sold at a local airport. Some fuels also are meant to run at high elevations. Depends on the fuel honestly. Of course everyone still ran it in their street cars back then. With the technology on todays fuels I'll stick to a true motorsports fuel designed for what I am doing.

Personally I would be careful using that in a newer car. At the least it will probably not be too good on the O2s and cats if you have them. Then you have the fuel system to worry about too.

I had a turbo 4cyl 10 years ago that I ran avgas in from a local airport. The lead burned up o2 sensors very quickly and it wasn't worth running when e85 is around for cheaper, cleaner, and better octane

The low lead aviation fuel has less lead in it than normal leaded race gas. When I tested it in a different car I had to jet it up compared to C12 race gas. It also took a couple degrees more timing to get the same performance, but I was able to match the performance of c12 with it.

I will have to do my homework on this subject. I have AV FUEL readily available. I will go to the airport and see what I find out.

I litterally have a station less than a 1/4mile from me that sells it. There is so many opinions out there on it, it is crazy. Actually hadn't even thought about running it in the mustang. I will try a 50/50 tank 93 and av and let you know what the knock sensors and O2's think. I've already ran a few tanks of leaded fuel through it so I will be giving it a break, lol.

Av gas LL100 (Low lead) contains more lead then even leaded race fuel, it has 0.5grams per liter, its tel lead ( tetra-ethyl-lead) not sure if there's a difference in the type of lead used vs race fuel but please correct me if this info is wrong

I did my homework and have Av gas available as well but I wont use it in my car for many reasons, and Ill explain why not .

Av gas LL100 (Low lead) contains tel lead(tetra-ethyl-lead) which leaves alot of lead deposits when used in a motor vehicle , tel lead when burned is corrosive which damages the valves, valve guides, valve seats and cylinder heads. It also blocks oxygen(lambda) sensors, damages catalytic converters and fouls spark plugs . Avgas also cotains chemicals used for high altitude performance and it affects the performance on motor vehicle on the ground and because Avgas has lower volatility it lacks in performance on drivability cold starts etc, and it needs a change in air/fuel ratio to run it as well. Avgas is blended with a high percentage of aromatics, causing reduced throttle response and damages rubber components such as fuel lines, fuel pump seats etc

I was told by Lund and by a different company(tunes ford trucks)to not use this gas because it would cause issues

Hard to find specs on race fuel, but I asked vp about there 110 fuel (easiest available at local track) it had 4grams per gallon. Mind you I know it is "bad" for o2's and cat's, but I have probably run through 30-40gallons of it over the life of the mustang...

Av LL100 has .5 per liter, which is half. Lead is a great octane booster. I happened to stop this morning and put 6gallons in it. Going to the track tonight and will monitor the knock and a/f.

Just for reference any guy with a "race car" running at the track with a wide-band O2 running race gas is putting leaded fuel on his O2 sensors. Personally I have yet to kill an o2 from it.

Running leaded fuel will slowly clog up your o2 sensor and cause bad readings and laziness, you will prob never know until you benchmarked it versus a new sensor. It doesn't just suddenly fail and stop working.

Nope... nope nope nope nope nope. Shouldnt have tried. Didnt like it. At all. Down .6 tenths and 12mph over the c12? 110 leaded i ran two weeks ago in worse weather. First pass i logged the run but the scanner glitched before i could look at it, second run logged it and saw 4 degrees positive knock... didnt run it again. Going to pull the plugs to see if i have any holy pistons.
